‘Jackson Sings the Gospel’ continues for day two in the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn. — Community members come from near and far to enjoy praise and worship during one event in the Hub City.

Thursday marks day two of “Jackson Sings the Gospel”.

This concert features some of the top gospel artists in the south.

The concert promoter Bill Bailey, said that this concert has been going on for many years.

“This concert event started maybe two or three decades ago. It was originally called song fest, then when we took over about 10 years ago, we changed it to Jackson Sings the Gospel,” said Bill Bailey, concert promoter.

Bailey said that he loves southern gospel music.

“We sponsor concerts like this event all across the southeast. Jackson, Tennessee is a great location because it’s centered right between Nashville and Memphis. We also have a lot of people that come from Kentucky, Alabama and Mississippi. It’s a great central location for this region,” said Bailey.

Participants were spotted supporting vendors such as southbound as well as taking the time to get a massage before the show.

Bailey said this not only gives participants more to look at, but hopefully they will take something home with them.

The concert this afternoon was free, but Bailey said there is a fee for the concerts in the evening.

“Friday night, the number one group in our gospel music family, Triumphant Quartet will be here. The Hoppers are coming. Saturday , the Inspirations will be here. They’re very hot right now. So all of gospel music’s best will be here the next three days,” said Bailey.

The featured performers for this afternoon were Southbound and the Perrys.

Bailey said that the revenue they collect this week, helps them take care of the artists that are participating this week.

“We also have a full schedule and line up on our website at billbaileyconcerts.com. You can see who’s singing, when and the exact time,” said Bailey.
