Shiloh National Military Park’s superintendent shares future plans for park

SHILOH, Tenn. — Catherine Bragaw, with Shiloh National Military Park, celebrates a year of being the camps superintendent, and discusses future plans for the park.

“The year has been absolutely wonderful the community has been so welcoming. It’s great to be in a community that loves and supports their park and its part of their lives, like a lot of folks will talk about coming when they were kids,” said Bragaw.

Bargaw has enjoyed hearing from travelers from all over the world as they share their visit with her. She also shares the opening of the visitor center.

“The building was rehabbed and we have most of the exhibits in place so if folks haven’t come, please come and see the new exhibits,” said Bragaw.

Along with the reopening of the visitor center, the national cemetery will also be revamped later this year.

“Some of the trees will be removed there’ll be new trees planted. There’ll be work on the cemetery wall and we’re really excited to see that rehabilitation work,” said Bragaw.

The Corinth Fountain will hopefully see some major repairs. Overall she shares feedback is important for their park.

“We want to continue to gather comments from the community because its their park, so what would they like to see,” said Bragaw.

In August the camp will welcome a younger audience for a fun event.

“We’ll have a Junior Ranger Camp for the kids. We will have cannon firings, we’ll have a hike, and then in the evening we’ll have a Civil War Concert. So we’re really excited,” said Bragaw.
