Early Voting begins in West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — Early voting for the State and Federal Primary and General Elections has started in West Tennessee.

It’s election time and Friday marks the first day for early voting. As you make your way to the ballot don’t forget to bring appropriate document in order to cast your vote.

“They just need to bring their photo id, their driver’s license or a passport– a gun permit, and come on out and vote,” said Lori Lott, administrator of elections.

This is the time to vote on the united states senate and house of representative primaries. Whoever wins in this primary will run against each other in November’s General Election.

“It has a lot of impact. Who moves our laws, who passes our laws. It’s a big position,” said Lott.

For Madison County, the Board of Education District 2 candidates are Glen Gaugh and Kenneth Newman.

The District 3 unopposed candidate is Debbie Gaugh. The unopposed District 5, Position 1, candidate is Shane Barnes.

District 5, Position 2, candidates are Marcia Moss and Dwight Jones.

District 6, Position 1 candidates are Brandilynn Taylor, Andrea Moore, Winette Bobo, Rebecca Creasy and Janice Hampton.

The County Commissioner District 10, Position 3, unopposed candidate is Richard Watson Jr.

“Early voting begins today it will end on the 27th,” said Lott.

Over 17 individuals are working this election to get people in and out all day. Other school board county commissioners are being elected in all seven counties listed

  • Henderson
  • Chester
  • Hardin

The last day to register to vote is 30 days before the general election, which doesn’t include Election Day.
