Suspect leads authorities on standoff in Henry Co.

HENRY CO., Tenn.—Suspect leads authorities to a standoff for more than six hours.

According to a social media post from Henry County Sheriff’s Office, one suspect led deputies in a standoff that lasted more than six hours. The post indicates that on Friday, July 12 deputies were notified of a domestic assault incident that occurred in Benton County.

The post stated that the suspect, Charles Kroner fled to his home located on Cliffty Village Lane in Henry County. Deputies were notified that Kroner was making threats to harm himself as well as others. After proceeding to the location on Cliffty Village Lane, Kroner was observed sitting outside of the home and retreated inside of the home.

Kroner then started to threaten authorities that upon approach he would shoot. Authorities proceeded to set up a parameter and communicate with Kroner and family members. During this time Kroner repeatedly exited the home armed with a handgun.

Information from the post indicated that after more than 6.5 hours of negotiations, Kroner came outside at 6:05 am unarmed and was taken into custody. He was taken to Henry County Jail and booked on charges of Reckless Endangerment and Resisting Arrest. A bond of  $10,000 was set. Kroner will also face charges in Benton County.

Agencies that assisted the Henry County Sheriff’s Department included Paris Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Henry County EMS, along with dispatchers from both departments.
