Jackson to host 7th Annual Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday

JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson is providing another opportunity to help you get rid of unneeded items.

It’s the 7th Annual Clean-Up Day on Saturday, July 27. This is a time for residents to bring many items that can be tough to dispose of, and it is absolutely free.

Kenneth Cummings, City of Jackson’s Communications Director, tells us more.

“Well we’re inviting the residents of the City of Jackson to the 7th Community Clean-Up Day here at Conalco Drive,” Cummings said. “It’s located at 164 Conalco Drive. It will be Saturday, July 27th from from 8 [a.m.] to 12 p.m.”

You can bring up to four tires per vehicle, furniture such as recliners, couches, or anything of that nature, and paper shredding will be available. You cannot bring appliances with freon or refrigerant, and you cannot bring any hazardous waste. If you have been to one of these before, it should go exactly how it went last time.

“It will be the same, it’s just our seventh one,” said Cummings. “People can bring their trailers with these items like furniture and other things that they can’t throw away into their waste management bins.”

In the previous six Clean-Up Days, there have been many people to use the services. That is why the City is continuing with this event.

They also provide some other opportunities for you to get rid of some of these items.

“It has been a great turnout. We have a lot of people who don’t necessarily know what to do, but now that we have the bulk waste scheduling, we also invite residents to schedule their bulk waste items. They get 12 pickups a year, but this is a opportunity for them to actually bring it on-site,” Cummings said.

Cummings also said this has been beneficial with helping clean up Jackson a little bit. Also, people that come to the Clean-Up Day can learn more about their bulk waste scheduling.
