Thursday is Election Day: Here’s what you need to know

JACKSON, Tenn. — Thursday, August 1, Tennesseans will have the opportunity to vote in local elections and state primaries.

According to Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett, voters may verify their registration status, polling location and hours, and view a sample ballot with the GoVoteTN app or at GoVoteTN.gov.

You can also contact your local county election commission office for further assistance.

Residents will vote in the Republican and Democratic primaries for positions such as U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and others.

There are also several local positions, such as school board in Madison County, mayor and alderman races in the City of Henderson, property assessor positions in Chester and Gibson County, and many more.
