Phillip Cleo Lovett

Phillip Cleo Lovett, known by all as Phil, passed away on August 2, 2024, in his hometown of Jackson, TN.

Born on January 8, 1951, to Gloria Jean and Cleo Lovett Jr. Phil was a resident of Jackson, TN and Bemis, TN.

Phillip was a graduate of Jackson Central Merry High School, class of 1969, and also attended University of Tennessee at Martin. Phillip was a member of the Tennessee National Guard and completed basic training before he graduated high school. He was a man who had many talents and held various jobs serving others throughout his life, but his career was as an Optician. Phillip spent his career serving the Jackson community with glasses and contacts at the Jackson Clinic.

Phillip’s hobbies were as rich and varied as his professional life. He was an avid clock, knife, and gun enthusiast. His passion for tinkering with anything mechanical was more than a pastime, it was an art form. Phillip and Cheryl were members of Aldersgate Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Phillip is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl Ann Lovett. Phillip was a devoted father to Amelia (Bryant) Morrison and grandfather to Matthew and Alex Morrison of Collierville, TN.

A service to celebrate the life of Phillip Cleo Lovett will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at 2 p.m at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Chris Cooksey officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon, two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
