Tyson semi-truck loses live chickens in Humboldt after abrupt stop

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A Tyson food truck swept through the intersection of Bledsoe Road and Eastend Drive and more than a dozen chickens fell out the back.

This happened right in front of Cowan’s Auto Sales and Repair.

Some chickens were found dead while others were still alive.

According to bystanders the truck was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed before coming to a sudden stop, and they say it’s not the first time they recall a Tyson 18-wheeler traveling at a high speed in the area.

One worker from the sales and repair shop saw it all happen.

“Well I didn’t think chickens would go flying everywhere. I figured they’d have them latched pretty good. He kind of stopped pretty quick and the car behind that stopped pretty quick and he was going what looks like faster than he should’ve been going. He just splatted over chickens and they were all over the road,” said Zarin Hadden, worker for Cowan’s Auto.

Firefighters and law enforcement picked up the the remaining chickens and washed away the debris to clear the road way for travel.
