Bike tour raises awareness to women’s heart disease

MILAN, Tenn.—Cyclists embark on a special tour to raise awareness for heart disease.

The 12th annual Heart Ride for Women’s Heart Disease began at 7:45 this morning at Milan City Hall.

Forty cyclists left on a bicycle journey that will cover 224 miles over a two-day tour.

The tour will lead cyclists from Milan to Eddyville, Kentucky and back.

The event hosted by the American Heart Association is held to not only raise awareness against heart disease in women but also to raise funds.

Co-founders of the initiative, Jon Ewing and Dr. Brad Adkins, hope to bring attention to women’s heart health. They hope that funds raised can aid in supporting not only research efforts, but education and community programs as well.

Donations are accepted to support the bike riders and can be made to the American Heart Association.
