Genealogical society meets to learn about Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — One local group takes a look at the history behind one of the most historic sites in Jackson.

The Mid-West Tennessee Genealogical Society met Tuesday evening at the Jackson-Madison County Library in downtown Jackson.

Madison County historian Ricky Long presented a program on the history of the Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson and its rich past.

Attendees had the chance to explore the cemetery’s origins, notable burials and its significance within the community, as well as hearing stories that have shaped the heritage of Jackson.

“Hollywood Cemetery does have a website where we would gladly accept tax-deductible donations. We depend heavily on tax-deductible donations for the maintenance of the cemetery,” said Long.
