Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrests detention specialist on drug charges

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — On Monday, August 12, 2024, at approximately 7:45 AM, drug investigators from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the 26th Judicial District Drug Task Force, arrested Amber Shalane Mount, a Detention Specialist at the Criminal Justice Complex, located at 515 South Liberty Street in Jackson, Tennessee. 

During the course of the investigation, Mount was found in possession of a backpack, inside which investigators discovered a stapled packet of papers containing fifty (50) blue M-30 pills, believed to be fentanyl. Additionally, four small plastic packages containing a substance suspected to be  methamphetamine, with a combined weight of approximately 7.74 grams. Further inspection revealed another folded piece of paper containing ten (10) Suboxone strips in factory packaging also located in  Mount’s backpack. 

Ms. Mount was immediately detained and taken into custody at the Criminal Justice Complex and charged with the following: 

  • Possession of Schedule II (Fentanyl) with intent 
  • Possession of Schedule III (Suboxone) with intent 
  • Possession of Methamphetamine with intent 
  • Introduction of contraband into a penal institution 

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office takes these allegations very seriously, and we hold all employees to the highest standards of conduct. Following Ms. Mount’s arrest and arraignment, Ms. Mount was immediately terminated from her position at the Criminal Justice Complex.
