Planned Giving

Leave a Legacy for Chicago Public Media

As a way to sustain Chicago Public Media’s quality, independent local journalism, many Chicago Public Media supporters choose to leave a bequest in their estate plans. Donors who establish a planned gift to CPM become members of our Legacy Society and receive special opportunities and recognition to thank them for securing our future.

Planned Giving opportunities include:

  • Bequest in your will or trust (cash, securities, or other assets): You can establish a bequest of a particular dollar amount or asset by using this language: “I give, bequeath and devise (_____% or $_____ or specifically designated asset) to Chicago Public Media, home of WBEZ and the Chicago Sun-Times, or its successor organization, an Illinois not-for-profit corporation, now or formerly located at 848 East Grand Ave., Chicago, IL, 60611.”
  • Beneficiary on an account: Designate Chicago Public Media as a beneficiary on your retirement plan, bank account, or life insurance policy. Chicago Public Media’s Tax ID is 36-3687394.
  • Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA): Establishing a Charitable Gift Annuity is a strategic way to create income for yourself or a designated individual while creating a planned charitable gift for Chicago Public Media. Opening a CGA may create a tax deduction as well; contact your advisor for more information.
