Clingmans Dome Road will be closed on the mornings of Sept. 10, Sept. 12, and Sept. 16 for special educational programs, the National Park Service said.

Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — A road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park will be closed during some September mornings as students from schools with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians participate in special education programs.

A release from the National Park Service said Clingmans Dome Road would be closed for the mornings of Sept. 10, Sept. 12 and Sept. 16 for the educational programs. A release said the road would be closed at midnight the night before, and will re-open at 1 p.m. each day.

During each closure, the National Park Service said the road would be closed to all motorists, cyclists and hikers. Visitors should consider alternative destinations during those closures. The road spans 7 miles, and Clingmans Dome Tower will also be closed.
