THP: 2 injured in single-vehicle crash on I-40 West in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tennessee — Two people were injured after a single-vehicle crash on I-40 West in Jefferson County on Wednesday afternoon, according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. 

According to the report, the first car was traveling westbound in the third lane, when it started to drift across the first and second lane and onto the right shoulder.

The car went off the road and into the grass, THP said. The driver then "abruptly turned the wheel" and went back onto the interstate. Finally, the car ran off the road on the right and overturned, according to the report.

It is unknown whether or not the driver was wearing a seatbelt during the crash, THP reported.
