The MED Foundation of Mercer Health holds annual Esmonde/Homan Memorial Golf Outing

The MED Foundation of Mercer Health held its annual Esmonde/Homan Memorial Golf Outing on June 14, 2024 at the Mercer County Elks Golf Club to raise funds for the organization’s scholarship program.

This year 36 teams of men, women and co-ed participants competed. The event began with a “golf ball drop” 50/50 drawing, raising a record high of $3,320 awarded to the winner and an additional $3,320 for the scholarship fund. The winning ball #980 was purchased by Arlo Miller. Daylen Froning also won $5,000 for his hole in one on hole 16.

“On behalf of the MED Foundation of Mercer Health, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all of the sponsors and golfers who supported our annual golf outing. It is always such an enjoyable day spent with so many great people who believe in our mission,” Deb Hemmelgarn, Director of the MED Foundation, said. “Thank you to each of them for supporting Mercer Health, The MED Foundation, and the golf outing, as well as the future of healthcare in our community.”

This year John Hoying was recognized at the event for his years of support to the golf outing, The MED Foundation and Mercer Health. John served as the Director of the MED Foundation from 2008-2014. He has also served two terms on The MED Foundation’s Board of Directors since his retirement. Hoying was thanked for his leadership, generosity, and friendship.

Hemmelgarn expressed her gratitude to Hoying for his continued support over the past 10 years, “John has done so much over the years not only for the golf outing, but also for Mercer health and the MED Foundation.”
