Texas Congresswoman says arguing over President’s debate performance instead of focusing on winning policies is a 'terrible strategy'

Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett does not think there will be a battle to replace Biden at the Democratic National Convention.

DALLAS — Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, D-Dallas, is not one of the many Democrats nationally who are calling for President Biden to be replaced at the top of the ticket following a disastrous debate performance.

And she says fellow Democrats just need to calm down.

“The fact that Democrats are so scared of their own shadow and won’t just stand up and say hey, he’s got a record to run on and it’s a very strong record, we stand with him, is absolutely ridiculous,” the Democrat told us on Inside Texas Politics.

Congresswoman Crockett argues that the focus on the President’s debate performance and whether he should drop out is stealing attention away from his record, his winning policies and the race itself, calling it a terrible strategy.

And after some of the recent conservative rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court, she says Democrats should be focused on preventing former President Trump from regaining the White House, when he might have the ability to place even more conservatives on the Supreme Court.

“We have significant issues and the fact that people want to say well, 90 minutes, it was awful and so we’re going to throw it all away is absolutely crazy to me,” she said.

The Democratic lawmaker also doesn’t think there will be a floor fight later this summer at the Democratic National Convention to replace Biden on the ticket because the President has nearly all of the delegates.

But she does think there needs to be a larger conversation between all of the different Democratic groups asking for different outcomes because the party doesn’t have a chance if it isn’t united.

“I think that we need to have a family meeting in the House, though. I think that that’s what needs to take place,” she said.
