VOLUNTOWN, CT (WFSB) - Two people were found dead in Voluntown Wednesday after police received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. from a residence on Hell Hollow Road.

According to police, the first call came in at 11:26. Troopers responded and found a deceased man in the driveway of the home at 11:35 a.m.

“First responding officers located a man in the driveway. The male was found to be unresponsive with visible injuries and was later pronounced deceased on scene,” state police said.

“At one time I saw 8 cop cars go down,” said Karen Hoenig, Voluntown.

Police say a woman called 911 only saying that there was an emergency and the address, then ended the call by saying sorry.

Police tried to make contact with anyone in the home with no luck.

At 3:53 p.m. a drone was deployed into the home through an open second floor door. Police then found a deceased female on the stairway.

“The identities of the deceased will be released at a later time,” police said.

A tactical team then cleared the home.

“The tactical team made entry and cleared the residence and found nobody else on scene at 4:25 this afternoon,” said Sgt. Luke Davis, Connecticut State Police.

Police have not released how the man and woman were connected.

Neighbors say the pair lived together.

“They were both nice, but that doesn’t mean anything when you’re outside of the family. You don’t know what happens inside of people houses,” said Karen Hoenig, Voluntown.

The Eastern District Major Crimes team is now investigating the case.

“It’s scary. You never know what’s going to happen. It’s one of those things that happens every day, everywhere, but I’ve never seen it here,” said Donald Cholewa, Voluntown.

“You just never hear about this stuff, especially in the quiet corner,” added Jarred Pocock, Voluntown

There is no longer a threat to the community.
