Kacy Hintz
WRAL Sports anchor/reporter
Professional experience:
I come from WPDE, the ABC affiliate out of Myrtle Beach, where I served as the weekend sports anchor / reporter. Having the opportunity to cover Clemson on its National Championship journey was an absolute incredible experience. Prior to making the move to the south, my first job was in Anchorage, Alaska. Quite the experience up in the Last Frontier! But one thing I fell in love with was fishing. Know where a girl can go fishing, let me know!
Education:
I went to school at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, for sport management and then transferred to Columbia College in Chicago – one of the greatest professional sports towns in the states! I graduated with degrees in sports journalism and sports management.
Hometown:
I’m so lucky to have called both sides of the border home. Spokane, Wash., & Calgary have both played a huge role in shaping who I am today!
Playing days:
I grew up doing competitive gymnastics for more than 15 years. I think it comes as quite a shock when people meet me and realize how tall I am. I also was a first baseman in fastpitch softball for many years. I’m always down for a batting cage!
Most memorable moment in sports history:
For me, not only as a hockey fan but a Blackhawks fan, the Stanley Cup win in 2010 is one I’ll never forget. It was the first time they had lifted Lord Stanley’s Cup since 1961 – way before my time!! Five years later I would’ve never imagined I’d be interning for Comcast Sportsnet Chicago and would have the opportunity to work playoff games that led to Chicago’s third Cup in five years!
Favorite sports venue:
I get so emotional going in to so many venues because I love to think of great moments that have happened in there. But the Hartwell Arena in Helsinki, Finland, is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever witnessed hockey games, not too mention the atmosphere is on another level. The United Center in Chicago is also atop my list as I grew up a Blackhawks fan!
If I wasn’t working in sports I would be:
I’d be a flight attendant, more specifically in Dubai. If there’s one thing I love as much as hockey it’s traveling, adventure and experiencing new places. I say all the time I could just live on the road!
