About the Business
SFHC was the first creamery in San Francisco to make small batch ice cream completely from scratch on-site. We are the closest "from farm to cone" as it gets. We take no short-cuts. As Licensed pasteurizers, we are unshackled from working with a pre-made ice cream base and have absolute control over richness, texture, consistency and flavor. We pride ourselves on being involved along every step of the way as we take individual and principally local, raw ingredients and turn them into delicious and unique ice creams. We hand crack and separate 2,000+ eggs per week to use in our ice cream and we utilize every part: yolks for the ice cream; whites for our homemade waffle cones. We make all of our own mix-ins, from our marshmallows and fudge sauces, to speculoos and baklava; because lets face it- when it's fresh, simple, and homemade, it just tastes better!

I haven't seen their spicy Aztec chili chocolate recently. Has anyone? Wish they would bring it back and offer in pints.

Do you have nondairy flavors?

Yes! Their Chocolate Sorbet is dairy-free and available year-round. They also have Cantaloupe Sorbet as a seasonal flavor these days.

Being backwards, I didn't actually try any of the ice cream -- even though it looked really good. I instead opted to try the churros and they were sooooo good. I haven't been delighted by a churro in a long time and theirs did not disappoint. I think it cost ~$5 or so but it was a good price for the portion and I got it fresh out of the fryer too. Love.
Staff were really nice too. This spot has joined the ranks of my SF favorites and I'll be back when I'm in town for to have some of their ice cream.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sep 12, 2024
Wasn't the best I've had but wasn't the worst in terms of ice cream. They just had limited flavors and not a huge selection. Ended up getting some kind of balsamic strawberry and it wasn't that great.
Located in a cute neighborhood though, very limited street parking.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1148122Aug 9, 2024
An SF classic! The inside is wonderfully spacious with indoor seating -- with the rustic wooden decor and warm lighting, it gave a welcoming ambiance. The employee was so friendly and kind and was happy to help me sample some of their flavors.
I got the strawberry flavor, and I didn't realize how low quality some of the ice cream I had been eating was until I had this. The flavors were so sharp and clear, and the texture is firm while still being creamy! It's definitely on the pricier side so keep that in mind -- the smidge cost $4.50.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 27, 2024
The cutest small batch ice creamery I've ever visited. We tried the fresh mint chip, which tasted like a creamy, freshly picked mint with semi-sweet chunks of chocolate perfectly spaced on a homemade waffle cone which was lightly sweet. In a word--delicious. The Weekday Breakfast was so delightful -- brown sugar ice cream with toasted oats, cinnamon, chocolate chips and a peanut butter swirl. It was YUMMY. The last ice cream we tried was Earl Grey Lavender which was so subtle in flavors -- it tasted like an earl grey lavender freeze. Picture that tea flavor frozen and creamy and bam, you've got the exact flavor.
The ambiance was adorable and cozy with beautiful paintings of San Francisco neighborhoods.
The service was fast and efficient. They had no problem if we wanted to try multiple flavors.
They have two locations, and it's a must-stop.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 2, 2024
Didn't know I was eating the fake stuff until I came here years ago and had REAL mint chip ice cream for the first time! It's deliciously light and fresh. I love that everything's made from scratch. Inside the cozy, wooden shop, there's also fresh, homemade cookies for sale!
Staff are always friendly. That being said, if you're indecisive like me, just ask for samples :)Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 2 - Jul 10, 2024
This ice cream sundae was a bit disappointing, in three core ways.
First, the ice cream. They only have eight flavors. I wanted chocolate ice cream, but all they had was a vegan chocolate sorbet. There was also a chocolate peanut butter flavor, but I don't like peanut butter. So I went with vanilla and one of their special flavors (blueberry and cornbread) instead. Neither flavor particularly blew me away.
Second, the sauce. I wanted hot fudge, but they didn't have it so I settle for chocolate sauce, but then they only drizzled on a little bit (it looks like a lot in the photograph, because all of it was in a thin layer coating the cup).
Third, the sundae doesn't come with any nut toppings. I would have been happy to pay extra for nuts, but they didn't have any.
However, the ice cream was still pretty good (it's hard for ice cream not to be good) and I was a big fan that they use fresh whipped cream.
Also, I tried my friend's mint chip ice cream, and it is a really special flavor, it really tastes like fresh peppermint!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 17, 20241 check-in
This chocolate sorbet is like nothing I ever tasted! I can't believe it's vegan. This is so fudgy and I can barely taste that it's sorbet. The vibe here is very nice and welcoming/bright. They offered our group water and I must say the service is great here.

Ice cream doesn't get much better than this: fresh, clean, original and not too sweet.
My favorite is the rich peanut butter chocolate. My daughter's favorite is the mint chocolate chip. We ordered a Flight and also had Horchata, Strawberry, and Mamuang Sticky Rice.
Some seats available inside, but take a walk down the street and have it at GG Park!
Lines go rather quickly with efficient service and free tasters to decide what you want.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 1, 2020Previous reviewFriendly staff, great location near the park, yummy unique flavors of fresh ice cream. Happy lickin'

On our way back to the car after dinner and noted a large crowd outside San Francisco Homemade Creamery. Of course, that requires an investigation and a gem was uncovered. This non-assuming store-front needs to be called out for the unbelievable ice cream they make and sell.
The staff is manned with ice cream scoops and a vast knowledge of the flavors, composition and taste profiles. The selections are not unlimited but each flavor is packed with intense tastes.
We ordered a scoop of peanut butter chocolate fudge and a scoop of fresh mint chip. It was creamy and the most intense mint flavor I've ever had in mint ice cream. Hands down, a fabulous ice cream spot.
If you have the chance to wake up your taste buds, STOP AT SAN FRANCISCO HOMEMADE CREAMERY. You will not be sorry. To SFHMC, a job well done and thanks.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 14, 2024Updated review1 check-in
Lovely. Lucious. Rich. Creamy. Delicious.
Had the Unity, which had corn bread in it and I never would have believed that could be good - but it was great! Peanut butter fudge had a rich peanut butter taste without being cloying. We'll be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 11, 2024Previous reviewReally exceptional ice cream. Cute place too.
The thing we noticed is the ice cream is very obviously fresh. We've made ice cream before and even average ice cream is just much better if it hasn't been sitting around or trucked across the country, frozen before it gets to the house. They had a very good selection and we will be back! Maybe next time for dinner. ;-)
