As always everything from the service to food and drinks were amazing.
We showed up on a Saturday and the restaurant was packed. Luckily there were two seats open at the bar for my wife and I. We sat down and she ordered an old fashioned and I had a pour of russells reserve 13. Both were outstanding. I especially enjoyed the russells 13. It was my first time having it and hopefully its not my own.
We both ordered southwest salads for dinner. My wife had chicken and I ordered shrimp. Both salads were large and delicious.
Overall another great experience at sons of liberty.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - 363645Aug 28, 2024
I've been here twice. Once before COVID and once after COVID this August 2024.
FOOD / DRINKS:
Both times the cocktails are great here! They used to have some bomb dishes on the menu pre COVID; I can't remember what I had eaten then but I remember it was amazing so that's why I came back. During my second visit, I learned the menu changes often so I didn't find what I was looking for so I ordered a salad. The salad portions are plentiful (e.i. BIG) and delicious so you won't leave hungry.
AMBIANCE:
The ambiance felt a little more sophisticated pre COVID but now there's hooligans riding bikes around the restaurant with loud speakers and neon led lights and loud motorists also pass by revving their engines in the dang parking lot so it's hard to have a pleasant conversation. I can't really blame the restaurant for this one though since it's out of their hands.
SERVICE:
Pre COVID the waitstaff were super awesome and approachable and even made great recommendations. This time around post COVID our waitress wasn't friendly and had attitude but the hostess who seated us was very kind and soft spoken.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 24, 2024
I've often visited the San Leandro location so it was nice to visit their Livermore location. Parking isn't too bad as long as you're patient. I'd mainly free street parking.
They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have large umbrella is it's a fairly sunny day but you want to enjoy your meal outside.
The food was delicious--we got the fish and chips, fish tacos, cheese plate, and mac and cheese for our son.
The fish portions were great, fried well. The cheese board was a highlight, unexpectedly.
The only complaint was that other tables who ordered after us got their food and drinks first while we had to ask for ours. Even after our food came out, we had to reorder our drinks because the waiter forgot our order..Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 114129675Aug 17, 2024
This place never disappoints. This is our go to local ale house and I prefer this over Fieldworks any day. The service and food are so good, and I like the variety of beers and cocktails. I've brought family here and have also been on several date nights with my hubby.

Great selection of beers and healthy starters and entrees. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Even thought we had a change in servers the new server introduced herself right away!

Recently went to Sons of Liberty to try out their food and drinks and I wasn't disappointed. I ended going with the blood orange margarita and the burger. The cocktail was excellent. Well balanced and super tasty (with a tajin rim at that!). I also liked the burger and thought the fries were cooked well.
Our server was kind and consistently attentive. I also thought the space felt spacious and had a good vibe. There were several TVs which were playing a few different games. This could be a good spot if you wanted to catch an NBA game or other sporting event while grabbing a beer. They had an extensive list of beers on tap so I may have to return to try those out. I'd recommend trying if you're in the area and looking for some new American/gastro pub style food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Patty C.Castro Valley, United States1521211Aug 7, 2024
Ambiance: 9/10 Great spot that I would consider slightly better than casual
Temperature: 8/10 Can get a bit warm but they have ceiling fans!
Seating arrangements: 9/10 I love the booths! They're so comfy and just perfect for a group to sit together and chat
Parking: 7/10 Even though this is in a plaza, for some reason parking is always hard to find!
Price: 8/10 Standard pricing!
Food: 9/10 SO GOOD. I always get the liberty burger
How quickly food comes out: 8/10 Great timing!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 2024Updated review
They had a great cider on tap
Fish and chips: good fish though the batter is heavy. Fries seem home made and garlic version is right garlicky
Chicken sando: great though could use more sauce. Not as good as bakesale Betty but could be top 3Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Mar 24, 2024Previous reviewBrunch on Sunday with no wait. The French toast -- good with cinnamon and orange-- and duck carnitas with TONS of meat 2 good fried eggs and not too many green peppers.
Coffee and bread from local good placesSep 9, 2023Previous reviewSurprisingly good food for a pub I. San Leandro. I had the strawberry goat cheese salad and enjoyed the ratio of chunks to lettuce and the dressing which was not too sweet.
Portion sizes are large
My friend had the appetizer of fried ribs. They looked good and were more than enough for a main meal.
Fries tasted weirdly fishy. Maybe the oil was not fresh?
Prices: are high. I expect $20 a person in CA these days but this ended up being more. Adding 3 small pieces of chicken to my salad was an extra $8?!
Service friendly ambience-- nice patio or inside has spots in several screens - Jun 17, 2024
Ooooh, finally made it here after the San Leandro Cherry Festival. We feared it would be totally crowded and difficult to get seated, but we were super lucky and were able to sit outside.
The service was friendly and fast and the food pretty good. The husband had a burger which was perfectly cooked, the kid had (sigh!) fries and was happy. My duck tacos were not really seasoned, I remedied that with a little salt and that did the trick.
All in all a really good experience, we'll definitely be back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
