I've had the food from here twice now! Once in person and once delivered. We got LA Galbi, Doenjan-Jigae, Bulgogi soy beef, and Mul Naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) for takeout, and it was so good! My only complaints would be that only the stews came with rice (none of the other dishes we ordered did), and that I personally found many of the Galbi pieces to be more fat than meat. I also personally do not recommend getting the buckwheat noodles (I suspect it's because it was takeout, but the flavour was off).
Otherwise, the flavours were amazing. I was pleasantly surprise by the doenjan-jigae: had a very nice seafoody taste (pleasantly salty? Don't know how to describe it, almost like a bisque minus the cream flavour?) that I wasn't expecting. Not like other Doenjan-jigaes I've had, but very good. Additionally, the meat dishes came loaded with veggies (made me feel healthy albeit the oil hehe).
In person, had the bulgogi lunch set. Would very much recommend. Portions are great, the side dishes (banchan) were great in person.
Try it out if you're a Korean food fanatic :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shanee C.West End, Vancouver, BC01Aug 27, 2023
Great food and friendly service - lots to choose from from the menu. Our favorite is dak-galbi, the chicken hot plate

It. Was. Epic. Almost gave 3 stars because the waitlist took 90 mins... something happened because we were "2nd in the queue" for 50 mins and nobody said a word as to why ... but the food itself was amazing. Once you get your order in the server never comes back however. We only got one drink the whole time.

Interesting bone in fried chicken. Served with fries and a few pieces of rice cake and deep fried cheese.
We had it with the classic soon dubu jigae soup but with seafood. And they were generous with the seafood as there were crab legs too.
Hard to judge the atmosphere these days worth covid happening. Just quieter in most places. And servers maybe not as talkative too.
All in all, a.pleasant experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sally C.Vancouver, BC1363144Oct 3, 2021
Solid place for cheesy kbbq plates and fruity cocktails! Reminds me of streetside restaurants in korea. The dakgalbi was tender and juicy with an amazing presentation, although I wished it was a bit spicer and more flavorful. I also loved the rice balls that you mix yourself, enhanced the seaweed and mayo additions. The cocktails were on the sweeter side but served as very refreshing complements to the heavy bbq.

Everything so yum! Especially the lunch special deal! - is such a good price and very tasty. Got the spicy beef, love the spicy. Service was great too! Tip: you can check waitlist through Yelp to see the waiting time and be on the waitlist!

Price: ~$20/ person affordable price for the downtown location
Service: 5/10 not really friendly and helpful. Maybe because the restaurant was quite crowded
Food: 7.5/10 If you want good Korean food this is the place to go.
Orders:
Jukkumi-Jeyuk Bokkeum $17
Should order according to the number of people eating or order more dishes to try. The baby octopus is small but eaten fresh and bouncy. The pork is frozen so it is not good. Cabbage vegetables and the sprouts are a ton. Tobokki and fish cake are not much. The sauce is moderately spicy and slightly sweet. The portion served with cheese and corn is very creamy. So eating with hot rice will be very delicious. ( Must try )
BAAM chicken $28
Crispy fried chicken, but a little bit of flour and grease. Tobokki, french fries and cheese sticks are crispy deep fried with savoury salty cheese powder served with five delicious sauces. If you can dip on the sauce of the hot plate it would be much better. ( Must try )Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eve E.Bellevue, United States03626Oct 15, 2021

I went to Ta Bom in Coquitlam earlier this year and I'm glad they've opened a location downtown. Last time I tried their spicy chicken hot plate with cheese and corn etc. and it was my first time having something like that! It was as good as it looked and due to the memorable experience, we decided to try their downtown location. This time it was hot outside and we wanted cold noodles which were pretty standard. The only fried chicken dish they had was also pretty good. It had crispy fried chicken pieces covered in an addictive sweet and spicy sauce. They weren't meaty large pieces but still very tasty. The last thing we tried was LA BBQ beef or something like that but it was my least favourite because it didn't have any flavour to it and relied on the salt and sauce they provided on the side for flavour.
