Very unique Belgian Style Poutine's, highly recommend! Atmosphere is order at the counter and pick up when ready. Great little spot for a quick eat, especially before going to landmark! I've came here twice before but this time I had the pleasure of meeting the chef that had created the menu, I forgot his name when he said he'd forget mine because I was stunned by the recommendation that was in front of me!
We ordered:
* Small "The Gaucho CowBoy" poutine (Recommend)
Firstly, you get a bang for your buck! Portion and price is fair. The small was good enough for 2 or 1 really hungry person! The chef had told us the Argentinian beef is slow braised and takes all together 5 hours, absolutely delicious. Flavour combo with the juicy meat, savoury cheese, crispy fresh potato fries compliments the Chimichurri and I must say this poutine was weeet. They don't skip out on the succulent gravy they drench on top. I must say, I've never had such a great soupy poutine and I say that in the ut most best way!
We ordered for takeout just in case we wouldn't finish, we went out the door empty handed...
Overall, highly recommend stopping by if you're near or stopping at New west Minister Skytrain station area or landmarks!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 22629Nov 6, 2023
My coworkers told me this is the place I should try poutine for the first time, so I did. It was really good. A year later after having poutine at several other places, I come here almost once a month. They have great pricing for the area and their food is quite filling. My only complaint is over the past few months the fries have been very crunchy rather than a soft crunch which ruins the poutine feel I got from them. They offer numerous options for poutine and all of them are mega tasty.
I've also had their non putine items such as their burger and it was much better than I expected. Their portion sizes for everything are quite large as well, so be prepared to eat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eunice C.North Vancouver, BC906133Mar 5, 2024
This shop is located on the upper level of the new west station, which made it a super convenient stop if you're taking the train or in our case, to eat before going to the movie theatre.
There are limited seatings and they're fairly close together, but for a party of 2, it was perfectly fine. It was warm and cozy inside, with a fun ambiance - gives me cozy bar vibes. It's a great place to get some beer and poutine.
The food itself was freshly made with large portions. I assure you that a medium or large would be able to fill up 2 people easily. It's a lot of food, and I would recommend sharing as poutine can be very filling. Prices are on the higher side, but I think for the portion, you do get your moneys worth.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 9, 2023
If you ever have people visiting you in Canada and come from other countries, you DEFINITELY need to have them try poutine if you have not done so.
If you do decide to take them to a place to get poutine, don't just settle on going to a restaurant where poutine is one of the items --- do it somewhere that specializes in amazing poutine, such as The Spud Shack Fry!
I opt to get the regular poutine which comes in the small and regular size and honestly, I think the small size is good enough for a snack and can be quite filling!
For those of you who don't know what poutine is, it is fries with gravy and cheese curds which may sound simple, but when you pierce your fork through the fries and get a good collection cheese curds and warm gravy, you will quickly understand the comforting taste that it provides and you will definitely want to get more.
Prices are very reasonable here and it is conveniently located at the New Westminster skytrain station!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 414143244Apr 14, 2023
My daughter and I had just finished watching a movie at Landmark Cinemas and decided to have dinner at Spud Shack as it was conveniently located, steps away from the Landmark Cinemas. We shared a large order of The Original Poutine.
It was OK. Fries were hot and crispy, and the cheese curds were squeaky but I found the gravy was a bit too heavy on the salt. As a Pescatarian though, I do very much appreciate that their gravy is Vegan by default. It's nice to be able to enjoy familiar foods like Poutine, and not have to miss out on it because of the gravy.

I was on a mission to get poutine during my trip, and so glad I found this place! They are located in a shopping center on the third floor.
Spud Shack Fry has so many delicious sounding poutines to pick from, which made it hard to narrow down to 2! We went with Classic and Montreal and they did NOT disappoint. Classic was delicious and as expected- lots of gravy, cheese curds, and fries held their texture and slight crisp. Montreal was amazing as well. This one had added smoked meat, mustard, and chopped pickles, adding a unique twist to the poutine. We inhaled both poutines quick!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ambre M.Surrey, BC658133Sep 27, 2023
This place has the best fries I have eaten so far. Crispy, hot and the perfect amount of salt. The portion is huge and I love to pair with a creamy dill mayo dip. Yummy The service was excellent each visit, which has been about 3 times in 2 weeks. Super friendly and attentive. I liked the atmosphere because it reminded me of steampunk. I highly recommend if you are ever at NewWestminster Skytrain Station to stop by and try Spud Shack.
