I guess I can only speak for level 3J, but this parking garage definitely smells like a fine blend of weed and pee... and as far as SF smells go, that's nowhere near the bottom rung on the nose-breather's ladder.
In fact, that's actually a rather luxurious meritage of sniffs here... especially considering it's a parking garage. I should also mention that the elevators, surprisingly enough, smelled pretty pristine.
All around, the parking spaces here are so small that it actually took me until the 3rd floor before I realized they weren't just for motorcycle parking.
To be fair, a lot of the spaces appear to be meant for compact cars. I know this because the parking garage actually went to the trouble of painting the word 'compact' on each of these spaces, though it seems that 0% of the SUV-driving population took that to heart since they all decided that it was an opportunity to take up 2 spaces.
The signage in here for finding the exits and elevators isn't so grand. As I walked around I noticed that quite a few of the signs are actually displayed backwards, at least on the 3rd floor, but it's hard to argue with any of the negs here because there really aren't all that many affordable parking options in the area. In fact this was actually the 3rd parking structure I'd tried to go to, since the first 2 that were closer to my destination were completely full and no longer accepting new cars.
When I went to pay I was expecting something at least a tad outrageous, but it was actually well within my budget- surprisingly so. I'm sure the daytime prices are up there, but the evening hours are pretty great all things considered.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 20Oh no 0 - 17 Jun 2011
Ah 5th St. Parking Garage...oh how I love you not....
Maybe it's the fact that I have trouble figuring out how to get in every time I come here thanks to the horrific one-way streets. Maybe it's the incredibly tight parking spots where I dread getting my car dinged up from some crappy driver who decides to park next to me. Or maybe it's simply the abhorrent rates that you charge people for parking in your "exclusive" garage.
I think one Yelper below put it best:
"This garage hit the mother lode when Westfield moved in across the street"
Because that's literally what it is. If it weren't for my lazy ass enjoying the convenience of this garage being located directly across from Westfield, I would NEVER park here!
I came here the other day to watch a movie with a friend and wound up spending $15 to park for about 3-4hrs. REALLY?!?!? And while fortunately I did not get my car dinged or dented while parking there, despite the tight spaces, I did witness the car in front of me as I was exiting the premise attempt to park (poorly) into an open spot. He first pulled into the spot without making an arc and resulted in being too close to the car next to him when he was only halfway into the spot. Then instead of pulling back out and correcting his positioning, he slowly continued to pull into the spot until he completely scraped the side of the car that was parked next to him. I don't know if it was more painful for the owner of that said vehicle to come back and see his car scratched up, or to watch the idiot parking the car do such an awful job. Either way it makes me cringe just thinking about it.
Next time I think I'm just going to suck it up and park in the MUCH better Ellis O'Farrell garage just a couple of blocks away.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 4 Feb 2013
The thing I love about this garage is the easy in and out of the area. Just close enough so that I can walk to Union Square and various SOMA places; far enough so that I don't get stuck in crazy long rush hour traffic inching my way to the freeway. Yes, you will get stuck on 4th trying to get to 101 or towards 280 after 4:45 PM, but at least you don't have to maneuver through the construction maze that makes up the Central Subway fiasco.
Get in, get out, get going.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Leslie T.San Francisco, United States141819925 Oct 2019
For EV charging parking and handicap parking, enter garage at Mission St (not Minna). Once you've entered garage, stay left and press button to speak with garage attendant to raise gate for entrance down to the basement.
Parking in the basement was really convenient, and being able to charge was a plus!
$35 per day + $5 (6 hours for full charge?) ChargePoint charging
4 hour time limit for parking in EV charging spot Mon-Fri 8-5pm.
Parking across the street at Marriott Marquis was double that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Olivier G.Culver City, United States311123327 Jul 2016
Over $4,000 in items stolen from my vehicle here last Saturday 7/23/16. I was parked on the 6th floor. Apparently no levels have cameras except the bottom level and they're mainly to monitor incoming and outgoing traffic. There is a security guard on duty biking from floor to floor, however, I'm not sure why the management company wouldn't also or instead invest in some cameras. It would be a one-time cost for initial set up rather than a recurring salary for a security staff that, in my opinion, didn't do enough to keep my stuff safe.
I would recommend you NOT park here. If you do, be sure to have renters or homeowners insurance just in case.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Taisiya P.San Francisco, United States350874211 Oct 2018
We paid at the paying machine and it charged my card but didn't give a receipt. Staff was extremely rude to us accusing of not paying. Everybody from the cashier to the "supervisor" were rude. Nobody apologized. And didn't want to hear what was wrong with their pay machine. "Outstanding" service

Watch out people their clock is off. I entered the garage at 6:03pm with my (car clock and my iPhone time )and I only stayed for 30 minutes (just had to do quick return) and it was still 3.50 so I asked the guy isn't it 1.50 starting 6pm? He says ticket time says 5:59pm lol
Bottom line their time is off about 4-5 minutes!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Josh W.San Jose, United States3221514 Apr 2018
Don't park here. Your car will most likely get broken into. This garage makes an absolute killing every single day yet can't pay for enough security to monitor and prevent break ins.

I left my car here last night at 1am. I lost my ticket and went to pay and they charged me $68 for two days. I told them when we parked and they said they couldn't verify even though they clocked our time at 2:11 am as being there. This garage is horrible never park here

A parking garage is a parking garage. There's nothing luxurious about it. I park here every time I drive downtown. It's easily accessible, has lower rates than the competition, and its 24/7.
Obviously, if you leave valuables in clear sight, your car in prone to be broken into. So don't and you'll love this garage as much as I do. Rates after 6 are generally a lot cheaper ($2/hour). Also make sure you don't park too close to someone elses car or it might get hit when they open their doors.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Daniella O.San Francisco, United States122455217 Nov 2018
Prices went up from $1.50 to 3.00 an hour for the 6-9pm time range. This used to be my go-to downtown parking garage but I'm no longer parking here after this increase. It's now cheaper for me to take an Uber from my apartment then to be parked here for a couple hours.
