Came here tonight to celebrate a friend's birthday. Service is nothing less than perfect. With very late notice, our server quickly whipped up a dessert and with lights out, orchestrated the whole place to sing Happy Birthday.

Food is always on point here. From tapas to mains, dishes are prepared with so much creativity, tastes so delicate! The winner of the night got to be Tenderloin Sizzling Steak! Loved the dipping sauce. Never miss this dish every time I come to Suika.

We've been to Suika Japanese Restaurant more times than we can count, and let me tell you -- they've never let us or our guests down!

Suika has a solid regular menu, seasonal specials that keep things fresh, and drinks that are as beautifully crafted as the food.
Every dish is a masterpiece, but a few plates really stole the show.

Salmon Pressed Sushi: This dish is a flavour explosion! Fresh, silky salmon paired with perfectly seasoned rice -- it's like sushi heaven in every bite.

Tokyo Oxtail Ramen: Rich, savoury broth infused with slow-cooked oxtail, topped with tender noodles and fresh ingredients for an authentic Tokyo ramen experience. Fantastic dish!

Tenderloin Sizzling Steak: The steak arrives with a sizzling hot stone aside, ready to cook to your perfect level of doneness right at your table. Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavour, it's a steak lover's dream come true. It's a must-order!

Overall, Suika has earned a permanent spot in our hearts (and our stomachs). We highly recommend it -- it's no wonder we're loyal customers!

Absolutely incredible Japanese food. Super authentic flavors!

The uni and crab carbonara was so creamy while still being light and not too heavy like western carbonara. There wasn't too much of a fishy flavor and the uni is mixed into the sauce. The crab was delicious and the roe added a salty kick to each bite.

The chirashi set was so delicious! The sashimi was so fresh and it's on top of a seasoned sushi rice that was also light and tasty.

The drinks were also delicious and refreshing in the summer weather.

Service was so friendly and attentive, it felt like we were in Japan hearing the staff call orders in Japanese.

The seating area was spacious and comfortable with very cute decor! I'd absolutely come back so often if I lived here!

Been a few years since we've eaten at Suika. Quality is the same, portions have decreased. Atmosphere is still fun and lively. Four birthday celebrations when we went on a Monday evening.

Our group of 7 shared the black garlic edamame ($6.40), two kimchi tuna tartar ($14.80 for 3) and corn kakiage ($12.00) to start. For mains, we had salmon pressed sushi ($17.40), hamachi pressed sushi ($18.40), signature beef curry ($15.80), gyutan bibimbap ($18.80), sansho unagi bibimbap ($19.80), uni and crab carbonara udon ($19.00), miso carbonara udon ($18.20) and dynamic pork tomahawk ($25.40). We finished with the sakekasu cheese-ish cake ($6.80), frozen matcha brulee ($8.00) and kinako tiramisu ($7.80).

Best items were the beef tongue bibimbap (rice got super crispy) and black garlic edamame. Tomahawk was disappointing; fatty and more like pork belly. Desserts were all great.

One of the OG izakaya places in Vancouver, I've come here a couple of times since they first opened a decade+ ago. They're consistent and the ambience is great even though I would say they don't offer the best food of its kind here. This time I was here for a birthday and they set us up in a privateish area for our party of 15. I got pitcher of some cold peach drink that was nice, but the peach pieces keep getting stuck in the thin bamboo straws - preferable to the paper ones but a wider straw would be better. For my main, I had the grilled fish set - salmon and mackerel was the fish of the day. Mackerel was nice and fatty. I like the miso sauce on the salmon. Both were cooked well. This set came with rice and unlimited miso soup which was a bit salty for me.

For birthdays, the staff turn off the lights and they get rowdy as they bring over a custom dessert pudding to the birthday person. It can get a bit intimidating for guests, but I enjoy a bit of flare for celebrations like this.

Staff are always attentive and super nice. Space is not crowded and I love the custom beer bottle chandelier.

Grilled fish set with rice and miso soup. Fish of the day as salmon and mackerel.

Omg this place was a blast!!! You walk in and you are greeted by everyone working there, in Japanese, of course. Service was great, drinks were very tasty, and the food was top-notch. We came here for my birthday with some friends. I had the Omakase pressed sushi, and all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. My husband had the dynamic pork tomahawk and my God the flavors were dynamite! I can not remember what our friends got, but they loved theirs too. I got to try sea urchin.

Towards the end of the meal, somehow, someone mentioned to the staff or was my birthday. They turn up the music, start yelling, and bring a Macha dessert with a glowing bowl. I was laughing so hard as it was a great experience. When I come back to Canada in the future, I am absolutely coming back here!

Great food, great service and great ambiance!

Stopped by for dinner with reservation ahead. We had a variety of dishes including sushi, steaks, crab croquettes. Drinks we ordered are yuzu flavor so refreshing!!

Overall the food was delicious, just one appetizer that was on the fresh sheet, tuna tatami with soft egg on it, didn't seem very fresh unfortunately. The same tataki was on Chirashi and didn't taste very good.. might need some improvement here. But the rest was really really good! Tenderloin steak was really tender and so flavorful the sauce was great too.
Croquettes were extra hot as they should be. The sauce for croquettes was interestingly Thai green curry flavor.

There were two birthday parties looked so fun!

This place could be one of my fam members birthday spot next.

Food is delicious but over the course of dinner, at least 4 birthday celebration happened and it's always a huge production when they bring out the cake. Also the restaurant is rather loud and hard to hear what each other are saying so not sure if I'd come back again for a quality time catch up.
The ebimayo is super light and delicious. The tartar is 10/10 as well. The Chirashi is just okay. The uni crab udon is delicious tho. As mentioned food is in the pricy side but great quality. It came up to be ~$50 per person.

Unassuming Japanese restaurant with a lively atmosphere and the friendliest of folks. Prior to our dinner service we watched the whole staff erupt from all corners of the restaurant with a glowing bowl topped with a birthday dessert for a very young patron, lively exclaiming happy birthday. Wonderful! Enjoyed between us a sashimi green salad with sesame dressing and mosago, fried edamame with garlic (this can be skipped), sushi unagi sitting atop fresh seaweed (fabulous), and chicken thigh dashi karaagi (superb). This place is a keeper
