Issabelle’s 4-star review:
I dined here for my dad's birthday dinner a few weeks back and it was a really pleasant experience.
It was a Sunday, and since they only are able to seat 8 tables in their whole restaurant, wait times were long. We called earlier that day to see if we could make a reservation, but no luck. However, the gentleman on the phone told us to come in around 5 and we should be good. We got in at 5 and unfortunately still had to wait around 90 minutes till we scored a table. We had already driven all the way over here from Tsawwassen, so we decided to wait it out. Thankfully my family can easily entertain ourselves, so the wait didn't really seem too long.
In terms of Covid safety measures, staff are all masked up, tables are socially distant with plexiglass in between, and there is a limited capacity in-restaurant.
We decided to get the Combo B from the BBQ Combination menu as well as an order of the seafood platter. The Combo B came with 15 banchan, rice, yangnyeom galbi, L.A galbi, pork galbi, beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi, house
salad, gunmandoo, and japchae. The seafood platter came with an assortment of seafood bbq, marinated salmon, cod, prawns, and baby octopus. Since we cook everything ourselves, all the food came out very quickly. We had a blast cooking everything. Plus all the banchan were delicious - I personally loved the potato banchan the most. When all the dishes originally came out, we were a bit worried that it wouldn't be enough for the 4 of us, but when we got to cooking, it was the perfect amount.
Overall I was a big fan of everything from Combo B, but was pretty disappointed with the seafood platter. The flavour was quite dry and bland unfortunately. However, everything else was lovely!
On top of the great korean bbq, I loved their modern decor and murals throughout the restaurant. If I come back, I'll definitely be sticking to the korean BBQ instead of straying!
Thank you, Kook!
