Hello - I have a problem with my VW Routan 2009: The front wheels make a strong noise if the street is bumpy. I guess it is the front shock. Could you replace on the front suspension the struts and mounts? Could you send me a quote? Thanks Pet

cool dudes, great service. They know their stuff. Being a car nut and very comfortable installing or replacing anything in a car (engine swaps, turbo installs, suspension upgrades, etc...), they were very receptive to my diagnosis on my non functioning alternator. I could have done it myself, but german cars are notorious for linking everything into the ecu and I didn't want to mess anything up. Japanese cars are so easy to work on unlike their german counterparts which are very difficult sometimes. But I didn't want to take any chances. Although it took a little while for them to fix my car, I commend them for the quality.

I never thought I would be so happy for my 2014 Audi Q5 to come-off it's maintenance program with the dealership. Yes, I'm now paying for service but I it's so nice not dealing with the Audi dealerships. Zach and the rest of the team at Advanced Autowerks are so lovely. They have been super trustworthy and I never have to worry that more work is being done to my car then is truly needed. And they stand behind their work. I had some issues with the brakes after they were replaced at Advanced Autowerks and Zach took care of it without issue. I've recently moved from SF to Marin and I will continue to make the trek to them because they are that good.

Loved this place. Prompt service, great communication, and a little thank you note at the end. Would recommend any day.
I do wish they were open more than 4 days a week though :).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John M.San Mateo, CA1022Jan 6, 2016Updated review
Advanced embodies continuous improvement and it shows. I bought my A4 in 2004 and shortly thereafter I started to visit Advanced for my non-warranty work. This included adding an aftermarket exhaust, amongst other goodies. Back then it was a much smaller space run by Aaron and Randy, operating under a slightly different name.
After my warranty expired, Advanced became the one-and-only place I could trust with my Audi.
Over the years the business has grown and now it is better than ever. Their staff is extremely courteous. The work they do is exceptional. The additional touches they provide (bus fare, car washing, etc.) are an added bonus which wasn't always there. Best part of all - Advanced is extremely competitive with pricing. For what you would pay at the stealership, Advanced gives you so much more.
My only disappointment is that I have parted ways with the makes of vehicles that Advanced specializes in. As a result, I expect to find myself poking my head in to say "Hello" and looking for a new equivalent in the BMW world. Advanced has certainly set the bar very high for my next independent shop!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 19, 2011Previous reviewBack in the day when I first started coming here ('04) it was Aaron and Randy and a couple of lifts. Now it's Randy, Brett, Jason, a bunch of experienced techs, and a shop full of lifts.
These guys are nothing short of superstars. They are straight-forward with the work that is necessary to get your vehicle running perfectly.
True story: A buddy of mine recommended that I have my timing belt service performed by a friend. I went for it, since it was a great deal and I was helping a friend. Hindsight being 20/20 now, this was a huge mistake. Not only did I cheat on my guys at Advanced, but I had to tell them about it when something went wrong -- and it seemed related to my TB service.
Brett took care of it and didn't break up with me afterward.
If you're looking for solid service for your German, look no further than these guys. Everything about them is awesome. - Lewis G.San Diego, CA16616452Dec 22, 2017
believe the hype - these guys are legit. skip the dealership high-cost service and let the guys at Autowerks take care of you. They know VW cars very well and they are up-front and honest about their diagnosis and recommendations. they will be my go-to for service moving forward. I have a 2015 Passat. They also hooked it up with a Philz gift card. The Mission is a nice place to hang out while your car is getting worked on.

I am and have always been a "car guy." I have many friends who work in the automotive business, auto repair, etc. It is AMAZING to me how well run Advanced Autowerks is. From the first phone call to picking up your car and everything in between, these guys just do it right. Part of the reason I bought a car with higher mileage and more complex engine, is that I knew that I had an honest and dependable shop to rely on.
I can't say enough about how great Advanced really is.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Betty A.San Francisco, CA234Mar 12, 2015
Racist employee at the front desk, my repair wasn't done properly and got charged, the person with the dodo bird hair at the front had a terrible attitude towards me ( I have dark skin) , but was extremely friendly to every single white person that walked there...even other clients were surprised when I mentioned it.
do NOT go to this place, expensive, racist, and unable to handle simple repairs.beware!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Alicia Q.San Francisco, CA254813Jun 7, 2017
I wouldn't take my VW golf anywhere else. I didn't want to go to the dealer for it's routine service because they quoted me $300. I found advanced and I will be returning. They pay attention to detail, and tell me exactly what's going on with the car. I went for a routine service and with their special it came out to $90. I'm very pleased with everything! Also, they give you a detailed receipt and synopsis of your car in an email after it's been serviced which I love. Thanks guys for all your hard work and I'll be seeing you soon!

I used to truly trust these guys to tell what I needed and what I didn't. They even did a diagnostics for free once and give me a vouchers for a taxi and partial rental (they still do this). I was lured in by a flyer for a special for $69 oil changes didn't even receive that discount. I ended walking out with a over $3k worth of work and was told it was because it was the BMW parts (would have been more if I didn't take some thing off of the list) that I was paying for. They're labor is 169/hr. It's not the parts. It's their labor and pressure to hit a quota for each car. I also admit my mini hit the 75k mark and is now having issues. Don't get me wrong they do amazing work, but I am not your super affluent techie with a 100k+ job and felt very pressured, you can tell it's about sales. It's sad that another business that I used to trust has become a money making machine. :(

In all ways I was treated professionally, courteously, and supplied with unexpected information about my service including exactly what I'd be getting into financially, up front, before signing anything. Communications continued electronically during the day and exceeded my expectations. I've lived in SF more than 30 years and this was indisputably the best auto shop I've patronized. I recommend Advanced Autowerks.
