Gosh I love how you can actually get affordable organic fruit and vegetables here. It's down to earth and you don't need to wear your $150 synthetic outfit from REI to shop here cause nobody cares.
Panorama bread stand always has a long line and it's well worth it. Love the blueberry danish and every loaf of bread I've got here.
Slightly messy when it's rainy and if you go late, there's no parking.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tom D.San Francisco, CA013Oct 2, 2019
The best farmer's market in the city, hands down ! It opens early, which is great, so that I can get what I need first thing in the morning. The prices are great, the food quality and diversity is great, and a good portion of the vendors are really friendly and enjoyable to talk with. Parking can be a drag, if you arrive after 8:30 (hence, why I start early). No fru-fru vibe to this farmer's market, which is great.

I was there today at around 11:30 and was disappointed to see that some people weren't wearing their masks over their faces (around their necks, yes) and there was a serious lack of social distancing. We would wait in one line with space between us, only to have entire families walk right across in front of us. I was glad to get some great produce, but will see how other farmers markets are looking the next time I need to stock up only because of the lax Covid-19 measures.

An amazing "city" food market that has affordably priced conventional and organic produce along with a bustle and vibe I haven't felt in any other market in California. Only because it's fun to make a major discovery in your own backyard am I not sad that it took me so long to visit the Alemany Market.
It's going to become my market of choice, if only for the incredible nuts and collections of every produce I could want. I didn't notice any meat stands but if you're looking for live chickens, you'll even find those across the street. They even provide the shackles.
Come for breakfast and prepare to stock up. It's a fantastic market.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 13, 2011
Produce are a lot cheaper and they have veggies that I grew up eating. Just unfortunate there's not much organic sellers. really wanted to go here coz great harvest sells their bread here and it's one of the few breads I eat now. It's closer to my place but I prefer going to san mateo or even ferry building on saturdays.
Parking can be crazy but go around 11am and it's a bit easier.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 6, 2009
I didn't like it here at first because it was quite 'dumpy' and not the chichi type of farmer's market that I was use to going (ie. ferry building).
Come here with an open mind and you'll be surprised what you find. Spend your $20 wisely because once you start giving away $1/bunch of vegetables or $1/fruits, you'll forget how much you actually did spend.
Come early, park on the street. Don't park inside the kiosk farmers area. You are just doomed for trouble because there are many pedestrians walking about in the area.
I love the Asian farmers --- they sell a lot of variety of choi (gai choi, daikon with the stems, on choy, bak choy, small baby cucumbers, and etc).
They also sell tamales, a lot of bread companies (panorama is our favorite).
They also sell "fresh flocking hen!"
Prices are reasonable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tiffany T.San Francisco, CA116187Sep 19, 2016
Fresh and delicious produce - recommend garden plants (herbs and small fruit trees), much cheaper than a nursery

The best farmer's market I've been to in the Bay Area. It actually reminds me of the market in Odessa, where you get to be picky, whether about the quality or the price, because there is actual competition. This is as close as a farm can get to branding. Because week after week, people come looking for products from their favorite farms.
It's pretty cool that more and more stores are getting produce with packed on dates... But this produce is still fresher. I highly highly recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bam B.San Francisco, CA2472Oct 13, 2018
Great market but could please, please enforce the no dog policy. There are way too many large dogs wandering around the food. One took a massive poop in the middle of the sidewalk in front of a stall. Just leave your dogs home for the sake of food safety and respect for the market.

This place is definitely busy. It's not a leisurely Saturday morning activity like some other Farmer's Markets around town, it's more of a place to go grocery shopping. That said, the prices at this place are good, and overall the quality is also quite good. Be prepared to bump into people non-stop. Go early if you can!
-You can always find big bunches of mint and basil (any kind you like - Italian, Thai, etc) for $1. -There is a florist that has very nice bouquets for $6 that include a rose, a couple easter lilies, and plenty of other flowers.
-There are some food trucks - get the pupusas!
-There is a grumpy older man that charges $10/pound for green beans and doesn't explain why they're worth so much -- avoid him!
-A head of garlic is about 35 cents.
-Many types of peppers - green, red, yellow, and some purple/multi-colored varieties I've never seen. Good prices.
-Traditional carrots as well as the purple, white, and yellow bunches of carrots.
-If you like to make fresh squeezed orange juice, there is one stand that basically caters to you, which many varieties of valencia/other good juicing oranges..Of course you can sample before you buy.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
