When I first moved here I thought I had hit the jackpot with how great of a price it was for a "luxury" apartment (compared to other prices in Petaluma). Not shortly after I moved in did I realize that these apartments are in no way luxury. It should have been a red flag in the beginning when Abagail, who I believe no longer works there made rude comments about how much my father makes when signing to be my guarantor. The next problem I had was on the first day of moving in, my fridge and dishwasher both did not work. Abigail lied and said she checked to make sure they worked before we moved in (which obviously she did not). It took about a week for us to get a fridge and all of the groceries we bought went bad. We were told we would get compensation for it, and we never did til this day. The next day after moving in, I got an email from Shannon, the property manger about a noise complaint. I am not sure how you are supposed to move in furniture quietly but okay. Mind you, she lives in the same building as I do so it was probably her own complaint. Another thing about Shannon, is she lets her French bulldog roam around outside without a leash and many times has ran up to my dogs and gotten in fights with them. If you are going to have rules about not having your dog off leash on the property, I believe you should follow them if you are a property manager! I live on the third floor and there is a communal balcony that anyone can go on and I have had occurrences of a man watching me through the window in my apartment (and later telling me that he was watching me). Many times when I have been walking my dogs at night, homeless people have followed me around the complex and even had the urge to walk up to my car, wait for me to get out, and ask me for money. Every single night there are homeless people digging through the dumpsters and there are tents where people sleep right next to the apartments dog park. Last night I was in the gym and a homeless person walked in and tried to break into the clubhouse while I was still there and I had to call the cops just so I felt safe leaving. It is extremely noisy, if you want to open your windows, all you hear is the freeway. Do not move here, I promise you will regret it.

Although I've only been at Altura for a short time I'm so happy with my decision to move there. Shannon who works in the office is extremely helpful. Anytime we have had questions or have needed support she has been right there to get us the answers we need. The apartments are beautiful, clean and modern and I feel very safe knowing there is security. Also bonus some units have garages available!!!

Cute place but definitely not worth paying all that we pay. Loved Katy the old manager new guys is just completely horrible , very rude and will just completely cut you off when trying to ask something. Yes very entitled for some reason. Over all really nice apartments and neighbors but definitely not worth the hype. Sink and washing machine constantly break down.

I leased a unit for 12 months and I would recommend looking elsewhere. If you can look past the cons listed then feel free to give them your money.
Pros
Spacious layout
Modern kitchen
It was there when we needed a place
We got our deposit back
Nice facilities (closed due to Covid)
Cons
Unsafe neighborhood
Witnessed people doing heroin in parking lot
Mailroom is a mess constantly
Management communication is garbage
Predatory tow trucks
Unreliable washer/dryers
Insane drunken homeless people wandering
No smoking policy is not followed/enforced
Freeway Noise
You can hear every footstep above you
Lack of parking for guests
Unsanitary dumpster areas
People use power saws in their garages
Super Windy (In and Out is upwind)
Security doors rarely closed
Delivery drivers constantly get lost
Our closet broke and it took 2 months to fix
My friends heater/AC didn't work for months
Keep reading reviews maybe they will improve but I would avoid living in the Altura ApartmentsHelpful 9Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Caleb P.Mill Valley, CA05Aug 3, 2020
Beautiful apartment complex. The best part is how well maintained everything is. Patrick, the Maintenance Manager, couldn't be better. Same thing with his assistant Kanyon.
I moved in 3 days ago on a Saturday and had a drawer not working, the garbage disposal wasn't working, and when I was walking to drop off the move-in inspection form to the office on Monday, Patrick saw me with it and stopped me. He asked me what was wrong and I told him and he literally grabbed his stuff and him and Kanyon came right then. Normally I'd have to wait at least a week but they came up instantly and within 15 minutes everything was fixed.
I appreciate you Patrick and also Kanyon. Thank you for taking care of everything so fast and being nice while doing so.
For the COVID concerned folks, they had masks on the entire time and took the distance thing serious.
Altura, Patrick needs a raise!! Couldn't ask for a better person to have here. For real!

I just recently left ALTURA Apartments after almost a year stay during COVID. It's. A beautiful facility with a great pool and a great community.
My kids had a safe place to stay during our time there. I am very grateful.
There were a couple policies that I found especially bad, towing policies in the parking lot, during COVID I was towed 4 times, including friends, towed from a spot I rented and paid for; I did not like this and it caused a lot of great stress to me as a mother of 3, during COVID as I'm sure you can imagine waking up to your car being removed and $500 approximately every time to get it free. The tow company they use had some really rough necks and rude boys, and it was extremely stressful and unpleasant.
However, the staff there is phenomenal, including Patrick, and Katie, the manager and we all are doing our best to maintain when many of us lost our jobs. But at the end of the day, I am very greatful for property Manager Katie and her professionalism Toward me and my family during one of the most difficult times in our lives.
I would recommend ALTURA to anyone in the area looking for the sweet place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

We are sorry to hear that your vehicle was towed. As management, we communicate the parking permit policy during our initial tour, lease signing, through direct personal emails and by posting notices on all entry doors. It is required to have a permit visible in your vehicle when parking on property grounds, as this is visible verification the spot is assigned to the vehicle within the parking space.
Our pool and spa are open in working order, and our staff is working diligently to keep this space open by abiding by new restrictions due to COVID 19.
In review of phone and email correspondence, we have not received any communication regarding a garage issue. However, should you have any pending concerns you may call, email or enter a work order directly through your Resident Portal. Please reach out to the leasing office if you need any assistance at (707) 981-8536.
All the best,

My car was towed too with no warning. Apparently I am 1 of 8. Management could have been more gracious here, or at least communicated better with a warning, as they know so many tenants are currently in the process of moving in, and some may have boxes in their garages for a few days as they unpack, forcing them too use open parking around the property (there's empty spots as far as the eye can see). Most parking spaces have numbers, yes, but the complex is still 50% vacant and it is not difficult to pay attention to which parking spots are currently occupied and being utilized. Left a bad taste in our mouth as new tenants. Not how we wanted to begin 2020.

Brand new construction with tons of amenities like 24 hour gym, peloton bikes, heated pool and hot tub. Located close to the smart train station and an easy drive from Marin and SF. All the best wineries are close by as well. My dogs loves the large enclosed park and my husband is in love with the gas range stove and huge garage. Abigail and the rest of the office staff is friendly and helpful.

I came here to visit a friend and my car got towed from the spot that she pays for even though I had a parking placard. They work with a private security company to patrol the parking lot and specifically look for cars not "properly" displaying the permit. They then have a contract with a private towing company Ace Towing, to tow your car in the middle of the night to Santa Rosa and charge you $330 to get your car back. I woke up this morning to go to work and thought my car had been stolen so I called the police. They informed me that indeed Altura apartments had my car towed from a PAID FOR spot, and now I can't go to work. I may lose my job, plus the costs of towing and finding a ride to Santa Rosa with all of my belongings. This place is truly extorting it's own tenant, not to mention during a time of Covid-19 as if there isn't already enough hardship. They should be helping their tenants, not extorting them. These guys are evil.
