About the Business
Located on the Arcade level of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Victoria, Bartholomew's has been a favourite spot for both locals and visitors alike since 1975. We offer a casual relaxed atmosphere, in an English-style setting, as well as a beautiful outdoor patio (seasonal). Bartholomew's is proud to support our local craft beer industry, and offers beer on tap from all the major Victoria breweries. We are also famous for our signature double seafood Caesar, which is considered, by many, to be the best in Victoria. Our menu is extensive, offering classic pub fare and families are welcome. Enjoy live entertainment every Friday & Saturday from 9:30pm and Sunday at 4:30pm as we showcase some of Victoria's finest talent, no cover charge. Every Saturday, from June through September we offer a patio barbeque from 6pm, weather permitting. The menu features a selection of summer favourites, and rotates weekly.

Tasty dishes and libations. Very fresh salads, pizza, and great standard fare like burgers, shepherd's and pot pie. Especially enjoyed the spacious rooms (great little round table for our party of 5). Recommend!

Solid well made pub fare. Their beer selection is excellent, and mostly semilocal microbrews. The pub fare is fairly traditional, but very well done. I highly recommend the lamb burger with a pint of cream ale.

Drinks were okay, food was mediocre but the atmosphere was awesome. I would go back for karaoke night again.

Three stars for food, four stars for atmosphere, service and value. This place does a great job at being British - but with the bonus that it has recently been renovated and is therefore much, much less sticky than a real English pub.
The pub is pretty large but maintains a cosy look and feel, with dark wood, red velvet and stained glass features. We were greeted warmly here on the Sunday evening of a long weekend and thought it seemed a little quiet. Turns out we were just early - the pub was packed full of people of all kinds having a great time by 9pm.
Jackson Triggs' merlot was on special at $3.70 a glass, which was amazing. How can you turn that down? The beer was also great value.
The food was pretty averagely priced for Victoria - maybe a dollar or two more than some of the other pubs I visited. I ordered the turkey 'sandwich', which is actually turkey layered on top of stuffing. It was a little disappointing - the gravy and stuffing lacked flavour. But a decent meal nonetheless. My boyfriend's club sandwich was also reviewed as being pretty average. But all in all we had a great time here because of the atmosphere and service - oh, and the $3.70 wine.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Patrick W.Sunnyvale, CA8411Jun 25, 2015
Fantastic hole-in-the-wall bar, full of friendly locals.
Great service - we went there every night while in Victoria!

Went to Bart's for (what was supposed to be) dinner with my Vic friends and ended up staying 'til last call! The schnitzel was SO good, the cover band was lots of fun and our section of the bar had an impromptu group sing-a-long and air band session to some 80s & 90s classics.
The crowd here is a bit older (I'd say they averaged mid-40s) and there was some spectacular cougar spotting to be done, but everyone was having such a good time and truth be told, it was nice to get away from the Victoria hipster scene for a night and just have a laugh with a lot of unaffected folks.
I would definitely go back, and next time we're totally going to carry out our much-discussed plan to storm the stage and karaoke some tunes with the band!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Roji S.Victoria, Canada611231Jan 23, 2016
Came for late lunch on a Friday, server was super friendly and the Bart's Signature Double Seafood Caesar was amazing.
We ordered some oysters both Fresh Shucked Local Oysters served with delicious Asian mignonette and Derryck's Oysters Rockefeller which left my friend and I speechless.
We wanted to try some more appetizers so the server suggested the ones listed on the "Appy Hour." We ordered Classic Tuscan Flatbread Pizza with olives and salami, the crust was the my favorite part because it was thin and homemade.
We also ordered garlic baby shrimp served with garlic bread which was an off the usual menu order. The baby shrimp tasted delicious so it would have been nice if it had a few more on the plate, lastly the garlic bread was the only disappointing part of our meal it didn't taste bad but compared to everything else it could have been better.
Defiantly going back, there are still so many things I want to try on the amazing menu!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shanie D.Salt Lake City, UT4587May 9, 2015

Great food! Came here for my family birthday dinner and we were all pleased with our orders. Chicken pot pie was one of the favourites - tasty, hot chicken-chunked filling with a light pastry puff on top. Butter chicken was great with yummy nicely spiced chicken, creamy sauce, and jasmine rice. The side of mango chutney was warm and delicious. The creamy side of taziki was refreshing. Mom said fish and chips were delicious, although she finished the fish before I could try, but the chips were thick cut and crispy, just like British chips should be! My sister ordered the oyster burger and said she was very happy with it! I also got the turkey dish which was sooo so good! Tons of sliced turkey breast (albeit could have definitely been juicer - was a tad dry as confirmed by my sister who ordered the same dish too). However the cranberry compote was amazing, alongside the stuffing!! The veggies on the side were very appreciated. Only thing my family didn't find tasty was the tomato basil soup that came as a side. Was super salty and we ended up leaving it uneaten after a spoonful. Overall, a great place that is definitely family friendly for children of all ages as they will seat you in an appropriate area based on your dining party! Great prices for the deliciousness you will have and the portion sizes.
