Great food,
Lovely ambience as of old Victorian furniture, upstairs and downstairs...
Good staff, they are busy, but everything gets done. I liked our server Edward.
I highly recommend itHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Denise D.San Francisco, CA18178Mar 31, 2024
Had a wonderful brunch/lunch at Creola. It was a great experience. Very good service and I loved the atmosphere, very friendly and warm. The food was quite tasty. The cat fish was my favorite. I am already planning to return.

Omg how have I never been here?! Every dish was an absolute treat! I haven't been back to NOLA in a while and whew - this place brought me back!!
The restaurant itself is so cute - decor makes you feel at home and I esp love the crown detail at the door.
Def a must visit!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 7, 2023
I enjoyed the vibes of this place. It was decorated nicely for the holiday season.
The food was decent. I'm not sure if anything stood out so much that would make me come back.
Fried okra appetizer was good, great plate to share. The shrimp Po boy was decent. The portion was pretty large, and I only had half and took the rest to go. And it comes with a side salad which is nice. Overall, the mains were good, but not great.
Beignets with a salted caramel sauce and the bread pudding were both great dessert options. I would recommend these.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2023
Summary:
Tasty Southern comfort foods
Details:
* Good selection of Southern food, with a focus on seafood dishes
* Everything aside from the beignets (which were a bit denser than we liked) was pretty tasty, with the fried okra, catfish St Charles, and etouffee being particularly tasty
* Outdoor seating is uncovered, but is heated
Accessibility:
Outdoor seating is quite accessible, and while there are steps to get in the front door, they have a more accessible entrance to the side for those who want to dine indoorsHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jessica W.Alameda, CANov 5, 2023
Visited here during their SF restaurant week so got their 3 course set for lunch.
The corn hush puppies are my favorite! They have really nice crispy layer outside while the inside is very fluffy. The sauce they made really made them shine too.
I got the buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potato and collared greens. The fried chicken was nice and crispy. But the mashed potatoes actually really stood out to me because how creamy and flavorful it is even though it didn't come with any gravy / sauce.
My partner got the wild mushroom jambalaya. It has a really nice aromatic, savory taste. We really enjoy it too!
Lastly, we had the beignets. They have a nice texture, but lacks a little bit in the flavor, wish there's more sauce on the side for dipping.
Overall, I think the food was good and the SF restaurant week deal was pretty worth for trying these varieties.
Took us a bit to find parking in that area though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 18, 2023
My friends and I found this place in a whim in noe valley. We came in around 11am on a Saturday and were seated (party of 4) immediately.
I had the eggs with grits and blacked shrimp. The cream cheese grits were lacking flavor, but acted as a good base for the blacked shrimp which is where all the seasoning on the plate was. The shrimp were nice and tender, not large nor small. Like 4 20/lb shrimp. The cornbread was very dry. I also tried the jambalaya and the gumbo. I usually love gumbo but the jambalaya was the star at our table.
The portions were small...especially for the price, more like fine dining than southern brunch. I guess our expectations were not met. Each of us had entrees and shared 4 sides ordered separately. I was still hungry after we left.
I tried the vanilla scented lemonade and I was hoping for something more, I guess... I would have asked for more sugar but never got around to it. I wouldn't try this again.
Service was nice, the dining room filled up as we ate, it seems more of a lunch place than brunch. It was cute, but seems quite small. I guess get there early for seating?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 17, 2023
I had such high hopes for CreoLa. We walked in for brunch and ordered the Crawfish Beignets, Simply southern, regular Beignets and cafe au lait. They seated us at the top floor which was nice because it was away from the cold door and gave us more privacy which was also nice. Unfortunately, being on the top level, you can't get service often so we never had our water glasses refilled because they never came back up until the end when we were getting ready to leave.
The crawfish beignets really didn't have a memorable flavor. I was hoping that they would be as good as Brenda's in Oakland but they don't even compare. The boudin balls were not greasy which was great but you couldn't taste all the goodness inside. The short ribs were tough in the middle but the grits and scrambled eggs were fine.
The restaurant is very cute, and we were lucky enough to find parking right outside. I would come to try the grits again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 6, 2022
Came here with my friends for lunch during the SF Restaurant week. It's a cute little restaurant at the corner of the intersection. There were still quite a few people there at 1pm on a Saturday.
I got the seafood gumbo as my appetizer and the shrimp & crawfish etouffee as my entree. The pre fix menu included a piece of beignet as dessert.
Seafood gumbo - I've had better. There weren't much of that Cajun kick.
Shrimp & crawfish etouffee - my first time trying etouffee so I don't have anything to compare it with. The stew/sauce it came with was on the sweet side. It was decent, but not mind blowing. The corn bread (?) it came with was pretty good though.
Beignet - my first time having a fresh beignet. It was soooo good. Perfect sweetness & texture. I loved the sugar powder they used too, but that was prob just genetic powder lol.
Overall, 3.5 stars. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you're in this area and craving dessert, I'd recommend giving their beignet a try. Rounding it up to 4 stars for the cornbread and beignet.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Cheryl G.Denver, CO019Jul 24, 2024
Wonderful experience service and food! We arrived early on a Wednesday evening after spending time in GoldenGate Park. I grew up with Cajun food and this place did not disappoint. We had a hard time deciding so my daughter and I split several sides to give us a nice tasting sampler. Our service was also very nice and attentive. Definitely recommend!
