    About the Business

Edge is the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere, with a one-of-a-kind design. It's suspended in mid-air, giving you the feeling of floating in the sky with 360-degree views you can't get anywhere else. Look 100 stories down from the thrilling glass floor, lean out over the city on angled glass walls and sip champagne in the sky. You've never experienced New York like this before.

    Ask the Community

    • Q:

Is the elevator ride going up/down so fast that it's scary? I have a kind of fear of falling.

      A:

The elevator ride is like any regular elevator. It's not actually a glass elevator where you can see the outside. It does however display different views on its screens inside the elevator.

    • Q:

Do you need a vaccination card to go there now?

      A:

Nope... but have a photo of it anyway on your phone.

I didn't find my time here enjoyable at all. I much preferred the Summit at One Vanderbilt. This place lacks structure; it's essentially just being outside with little to offer. The wait was substantial, and the experience didn't live up to it. I'd rather wait for One Vanderbilt, where I can truly enjoy my time exploring all the rooms and scenery. I spent more time waiting to get in here than actually enjoying what it had to offer.

A girlfriend of mines chose Edge NYC with the girl squad for her birthday night. We purchased tickets for the 610PM slot. Lines were long but not a bore. While waiting in line, there's walls to read with highlights all about Hudson Yards (which I helped to build), lights and mirrors etc. on the way to being 100 stories up. Definitely felt the air pressure change upon arrival. My hearing absolutely got a bit fuzzy for a moment.
We were allowed outside onto the deck in groups but once you're outside, there's no limit to how long you stay.
We picked the ticket that came with a complimentary glass of bubbly but there are booze carts and mini bars available throughout the Edge experience. It was nice and dark by the time we reached outside and very windy. City lights were sparkling like jewels and the views were expectedly breathtaking.
Even with a heavy crowd, there was plenty of space to move around, pose for pics and just enjoy. We had a blast.
Edge NYC was a dope birthday idea and I would love to go back with a handsome date.

My review might be a bit biased cause I came here for free through my work. But I really enjoyed the views during sunset. I think this is the tallest building I've ever been on (its the 6th tallest in the world). It does get very windy up here. I'm also afraid of heights and could not for the life of me walk over the glass floor.

CROWDED AND HOT! Visited during the summer and it was so crowded up there. I was afraid it might've been too many people on the ledge. Parts of the glass were covered with displays/artwork so the view was obstructed. The location of the building is also pretty far away so the views of the landmarks are not close by. When we were leaving, so many people had the same idea so getting on the elevators was like being corralled like cattle. We even had to be escorted to another elevator just to wait the same amount of time even though the worker said the line was shorter. Overall, the view was nice and if you go inside as well, you can actually get a 360 view of new york city. Would I do it again? No. Once was enough.

We went here on Sunday around 7:30 PM. It took almost half an hour to go up as there was long line. That was ok given it was weekend, also views from the top were good. But worse part was getting down. We were in line for almost 1 hour because elevators are too small and can fit only 10 people. Also the staff was managing quite poorly as we could clearly see sometimes only 7-8 people getting in. Staff could have easily asked groups of 2-3 to get in but they seemed too lazy/didn't care much. On the other hand, staff was pretty efficient in not letting poor tired folks to sit on the floor or chairs. Never going here next time. My experience with Rockefeller few years ago was way better and I should have stuck with the same.

Okay, so first-things-first, this is review is probably largely based off the fact that I did NOT have to pay. My aunt already had pre-purchased tickets for this with a group of her friends who bailed, so she rescheduled and the fam got to go with her instead.

We had absolutely no issue navigating the mall to find the Edge entrance on the 4th floor. All staff throughout the experience were super friendly, helpful, and answered all of our questions. My aunt alone was the only one doing The Climb as well for Mother's Day. The rest of us were far too cowardly (and not willing to pay extra for it). Yes, there's a line to get there. I'd say for us, even on a Sunday afternoon for Mother's Day, it took maybe 25-30 mins (about 3-4 long hallways to get through). They do have some interesting displays along the way to keep you occupied talking about how eco-friendly Hudson Yards is, yadda yadda (reach up and touch the dripping water in the rain display towards the end), reminiscent of waiting on a line for a Universal Studios ride.

The elevator ride up does have a little "video" playing on all walls that was dull in my opinion. Once you arrive at the top, I will say, I found it more spacious than I was expecting. Big open area 2-level top floor with huge floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize the views. And then you get to the outer platform which, surprisingly, was not as crowded as I expected it to be! I thought it was going to be a tiny sliver of a platform where you waited on a line to get out on, NO. Plenty of space for everybody. The only real "lines" up there were to take pictures at the corner points. Otherwise, pretty easy to get a space by a partition and snap away for the gram. I also thought it would be chillier up there, but it was quite warm.

When you first get to the glass edges, and especially that triforce-looking see-through- floor platform, you might experience a tiny bit of vertigo like I did. Cause you are HIGH...UP. The views are pretty crazy though. I can only imagine what it looks like at sunset. Besides the fancy restaurant up there, there's quite a few different carts serving beverages. I was parched, but even a bottled soda was $5 up there and the New Yorker in me REFUSED to indulge when I could just go downstairs, leave the building, and find a hot dog cart a block away where it'd be at least half that.

Since my Aunt was doing The Climb and that takes about 2 hours, all in all, we ended up staying up there for about 3 hours, but we never felt rushed and to be honest, I never felt bored. And I expected to be bored because I didn't think the city views would entertain me as much as they did. You definitely get a bit of adrenaline going up there! People were leaning on the partitions to take pictures and while of course, it's 100% safe, I was yanking my cousin away like DON'T YOU DARE LEAN ON IT, LOL. At the end, even the line to take the elevator down was only about a 6-8 minute wait for us. If you get the chance to come here on a Groupon or something, do it!

The Edge is touted as the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. Roughly 100 stories above the street and the cost was over $41 per person. I would make certain that any building you you pay to go up that you do it on a clear day with blue skies. The floor of the observation deck is clear glass so you can see thru it. The building is located in Hudson Yards. There is a bar inside that serves beer, champagne and coke. Enjoy the view!

This was one of the best experiences to do in nyc, if you are visiting or live here I 100 percent recommend. Are instructor Bruno was the best he made everyone feel safe and comfortable. One thing I have to say is that you have to be fine with heights but this is a must do

Skip this attraction! There are soooo many better observation decks in NYC.

      - the line or system of getting up there is insanely disorganized. They told us to get out of line to get in at our time because other people would think there was a line in order to enter. Yeah I didn't understand that either.

      - I imagined the wait to be long, but it literally took an hour to get up there. Super overbooked. I don't understand why they don't reduce the number of people that can enter per hour. Imagine having to wait that long with two kids under five.

      - when we finally got up there, we thought that there was another line for the sky bloom photo op. Nope it was the line to go back down and exit. It literally looped around the whole floor. That line was about the same size as the one to enter.

      - Again, the crowds were insane. No room to sit on the benches or stand even. It really does ruin the experience for you

      - not to much lighting so hold on to your children just in case they get lost.

      - the glass barriers made pictures terrible. You could see fingerprints and glare all over. There was no way to get a decent pic unless you cleaned off the window yourself. So disappointing.

      - a senior woman had an accident while we were there in the stands. She didn't make it to the bathroom in time so she went right then and there. They had to evacuate the whole seating area and other parts of the balcony in order to disinfect and clean everything properly.

      - back to the exit line. One of people in our group had to stop exploring early in order to get in that line so the kids would not have to suffer with the wait. Finally closer to closing time, they started to send people to the elevators upstairs and possibly employee elevators to shorten the line. I don't under why they didn't think about this earlier.

This was the biggest waste of time for us. It was just too crowded, and the view wasn't worth the wait. Go to the Summit on Vanderbilt instead.

Our stop by the Edge was brief as we were really there for me to do City Climb. However, the experience was nice enough, although with less of the gravitas that comes with the observation deck at the Empire State Building. It can also get crowded with so many people trying to capture a photo of the glass floor that is only large enough to fit 2 people at a time. So, expect some waiting if this is a photo you want to get.

You can see more of our experience at City Climb and other NYC observation decks on our YouTube travel channel: https://youtu.be/iZHBO69lPH8
