It could be an unpleasant experience if you are in need of a plumber and must find one by searching online. While Yelp or Google reviews might improve your odds of finding an honest, capable plumber, how many people writing these reviews really are in a position to knowledgeably evaluate a plumber's work?

I found E J Plumbing by asking a plumber I know who was too busy to do my job for a first-rate recommendation for a plumbing company. That recommendation was seconded by someone who refers people to plumbers on a daily basis, a leak detector company owner.

E J Plumbing did, in my opinion, quite a difficult job replacing with a ball valve a home shutoff gate valve that did not seal. The job was complicated because it was located on several old galvanized pipes below the shutoff valve that if jarred could have doubled or tripled the cost of the job. Also, there was very little room around the valve. The finished job is flawless and looks beautiful. I say this because I have done a moderate amount of plumbing as a homeowner but this job was well beyond what I would have considered doing myself. In addition, though the job was more involved and took much longer than the work that was quoted, they were willing to stand behind the original quote. I liked Daniel, the company owner, and his two assistants, Santiago and Daniel, as people, and liked welcoming them on my property. In addition, I liked them for their gracious willingness to go well beyond what one can reasonably expect for a fixed price job.

Bruce was absolutely incredible. Our challenge was two-fold. We had a faulty supply line in one bathroom sink, and then we had a wobbly toilet in a different bathroom.

We called around to several plumbing companies and EJ Plumbing was immediately responsive and we were able to book an appointment within a day.

On appointment day, this was done as a consultation. Evaluate our situation and then offer the appropriate guidance on what to do to solve it.

Turns out, Bruce was able to determine exactly what was needed, he even phoned a few other colleagues in the area to see if they might be available to help knock this out on the same day.

Lucky for us, Bruce was very clear on the cost estimates, let us know that some team members were in the area and could come by to help. We agreed.

My toilet was clogged this morning. I called for help and I have to say that the entire team was extremely professional. I called at 8:30am, they said they would send someone by 1pm but they resolved it by 12:15pm. Ramiro came out to assist us. He called to say he was on the way, he was patient, consultative and very professional. I would recommend Ramiro and EJ Home Services. Thank you for helping me.

Sam was great and fixed our issue very quickly! He informed us on standard maintenance processes and how to get more useful life from our appliances. He was very honest and transparent, I would work with him again for any other plumbing issues I come across.

Sam texted to introduce himself, arrived promptly, was professional, and fixed the leaky facet right away.

They have lost me as a customer. Very disappointed with the poor service. I had been struggling with removing an old hose piece that was stuck on an outdoor faucet. In addition i wanted some old pipes in the backyard removed. They spent what seemed like an hour coming up with a ridiculous quote, competed the job in 5 minutes and spent the next 2 hours coming up with estimates for doing five other items for the house which included changing the water heater, replacing the pipes that lead to the sewer etc. etc.

The worst part is they ended up mangling the faucet so I am now unable to attach a new hose to it. For the ridiculous amount of money they took, they didn't even bother to check if they had damaged the faucet. They didn't solve the main problem I had asked them to solve instead created a whole new problem for me.

Sam diagnosed issue quickly, helped us maintain hot water until warrantied parts arrived and could be installed. He was super knowledgeable and his service was excellent.

We needed a water heater replaced. Called the office about 8am and was told to expect someone from 9a-12p. Issac showed up a couple of minutes after 9am.

He explained our options and answered our questions carefully, then went ahead with installing the replacement we chose. The whole thing was finished by noon.

Happy with the service from start to finish.

Edit: the business replied below that they stand by their decision to work our insurance. Of course they do! They know my deductible situation and it doesn't make sense for me to pay higher premiums for no financial benefit here....very very shady business practices. I also saw that this is a common theme amongst the negative reviews for them.

So I also stand by my strong recommendation above: if you're looking to EJ, maybe look at somewhere else instead - EJ may just end up costing you more money and hassle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
