Emerald worked on my car and I was really impressed with how fast they worked, how transparent they were about pricing and how knowledgable they were. I will definitely continue to come back and suggest that others use this shop as well.

We have a 1996 Honda Civic... and love it, but it's old. We noticed a little oil on the garage floor in January 2021... since then we've been topping it off, but too nervous to get it really checked out. O'Riley on Taraval recommended Emerald and the employee there correctly guesses the issue. Stopped by Emerald on Friday morning, they said drop it off Monday, but we couldn't until Tuesday. We dropped it off this morning, got a call a few hours later w/ estimate, they did the work, and we picked it up just now. We're back on the road. The car is driving better too! We felt like they gave us very honest and straight forward service and advice and even threw in an oil change. It was 0% sketchy, which is new for me at auto shops and zero upsells.

So you've probably read about all the patrons who live in the neighborhood and have received such exceptional service from Gary. I'm jealous...as I live in SOMA and Emerald is my go-to auto shop, and I've been faithful to this shop for 5 years. No one else touches my 32 year old Nissan Pick-up Truck, which is my first car and the one my Dad always held onto as my back-up car. With older cars, it's often a guessing game what's going to break next. Case-in-point....picked up the truck tonight after I had to make an emergency landing at Emerald on Thursday with little to no brake fluid from a leak in the break casing.

Learn the "Emerald Drill," and you'll be amazed at how well the process works...Step one: Call in advance to make an appointment...Step two: Show up and be prepared to park your car somewhere in the square block surrounding the shop....Step three: Provide Gary with a concise description of what's wrong with your vehicle and provide your best contact number...Step four: Wait for Gary to call with a diagnosis and an estimate this is usually 30% less than the competition. Complex repairs usually take a day to fix. Step Five: Gary always calls to let you know when you can pick up the vehicle and what the cost of the repairs. Step Six: Be prepared to wait a few minutes when you pick-up your vehicle because Emerald customers always want to speak to Gary. You wait is rewarded with exceptional repairs done at an exceptional price. Always a really good experience.

Gary and his team of mechanics are great, efficient. honest and affordable. I've been bringing my car to them for years. I highly recommend this business.

Remember once when just parked around this shop, got near its office, nobody around, I saw Garry giving directions to a mechanic , he came to me, I told him that I needed an estimate for my car, he didn't let me finish my sentence, saying immediately that he had no time cause he was heading lunch, it was 10:45 am. Thanks for nothing, almost immediately got the guys from JT's auto repair around that neighborhood who happily helped me out. I know you didn't like me since the first second you saw my face, even when I looked way more decent than you did, but now I got a real reason to not like you and deterring any person I know from doing business with you!

Like others who have commented below, I used to take my car to the Honda shop on 9th Avenue. It was recommended to me that since I had a Honda Civic, I should "do it right" and get it checked out at one of honda's satellite locations. After one particularly expensive trip for something I didn't think was a big deal, I started to wonder if I was being overcharged. I took my car to Emerald because of the great reviews here, and I got exactly what I was expecting: a really nice staff, transparent + fair pricing, and excellent customer service that got my car back to me in an hour and a half. Thank you Garry! I'll be going to your shop from now on :)

I recently had an incident on one SF's terrible roads that caused a tire to blow out and my entire front end (suspension) to get thrashed. I took my car down to a friend's shop in San Jose to get it looked at, and the diagnosis was bad. My buddy told me what all needed to be done, but was backlogged by almost two weeks and I needed my car back up and running. His recommendation was to give Garry a call at Emerald and see if he could see me sooner. I did and holy crap am I glad I did.

Garry scheduled me to come in super quickly and the Emerald crew did great work... and a great price.

It's rare to a find fair, quality repair shop anywhere. Let alone SF. So glad I have. Emerald Auto has my business from now on.

Brough my car here for an oil change and highly recommend them. Prices are reasonable, employees are friendly and fair.

I live super close to this place and have always thought I should go but kept going to my existing mechanic in Redwood City out of loyalty and habit. Well this week I woke up with a dead car and perfect excuse to finally check out Emerald Auto & Brake. Gave Gary a call and was able to bring my car in the next day. Got a jump start from my neighbor but it sounded like Gary would have helped if needed. Had a new battery within an hour!
