We took a Fog City Cab from the San Francisco airport to the Park Central San Francisco (formerly the Westin Market Street San Francisco) hotel downtown. Like other airports, there's a designated taxi pick-up location at SFO. Fog City Cab just happened to be the taxi cab service we ended up with when it was our turn next in line.
The trip from SFO airport to the hotel, which is located in the Financial District, Union Square, and SoMa area, cost $52. This wasn't an unreasonable price given standard cab fares around town. However, upon arriving to the hotel, the cabbie insisted we pay cash so he could avoid merchant fees. I prefer to pay with card, in part because it makes finances easier to track, and found his insistence and unfriendly demeanor to be offputting.
After paying with cash, I had to ask for a receipt. It'd have been nice if he asked if I needed a receipt. Instead, I had to remember to ask for one. For folks who need receipts for expense reports and happen to forget to ask, they'd be out a cab fare. This is one advantage of newer transport services, such as Uber and Lyft, which automatically email receipts to their riders.
As for the ride itself, it was fine. The cabbie got us from the airport to the hotel in good time. He definitely sped 15+ MPH on some stretches, but I never felt too unsafe. The cab was a standard, run-of-the-mill, yellow, four-door sedan. It had its share of wear and tear, but the overall condition of the vehicle was clean and good enough. The cabbie helped us with loading and unloading our roller bags from the trunk.
I can't say I recommend these guys and definitely prefer Uber or Lyft if needing a ride within the city. If you're left with no other options, Fog City Cab can work in a pinch.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Kathy K.Austin, TX854610Feb 24, 2014
Left my purse in the cab while in town for a conference and the driver returned it within the hour. THANK you!

In the City just for the night, and we grab a Fog City cab back to the hotel. Walk into the lobby and my husband realized that he'd left his wallet in the cab. I talked to Eddie at Fog City dispatch several times - including him calling me back at the hotel to get a description of the driver - and he tracked down the driver, who found the wallet and returned it intact. I've got their number in my wallet now, because I'm not using anyone else.

Got into town late last night and caught a cab from the airport to the Western Addition with a very nervous cat in tow. We're moving, so we've got more bags than we're used to travelling with. One computer bag was inadvertently left behind in the cab. About an hour later, the doorbell rings, and it's our cab driver returning the bag to us before we'd even noticed it was gone! Since it was late and we'd already gone to bed, I was too frazzled to show our appreciation, but this morning, we're trying to track him down for being so conscientious and honest. No luck so far, but just wanted to post this review because if he's representing this company, he gave us great service!

I recently left my cell phone in a Fog City Cab. The owner of the company sent it next day delivery to me at no charge to my home in Seattle!!! Wow thank you!!

I had to take a cab for 9 miles and he charged me 80 dollars. It was from a place around Airport to 2000 winway San mateo. Way too expensive.

At SFO, Fog City was the next cab in the queue. The cab driver was patient, professional and a good drive. He even asked me the preferred route to my destination, which he gladly followed and complimented me in knowing the city streets. I would have given 4 or even 5 starts, however, at the end he said his credit card machine was not working and did I have cash. What is the deal with this?

I forgot my my lap top on a trip from SF Airport to Sheraton Palo Alto on 7/15. I took the green Prius cab at 1:15 in the morning, arriving at Sheraton Palo Alto a 2.00AM. The trip took 45 minutes and it was a pleasent ride, the cab driver very gently and polite and working for Bay Cab 410 of Daly City a company related to Regents Cab and belonging to Mr.Tse Kwan.
I called the manager Mr. Eddie at Bay Cab 410 who is the manager. He was very nice and promised to help me to locate the driver.Unfortunately I don't have the cab driver number since the car a light green Prius didn't show a number big enough on the outside or the name of the company (Bay Cab 410) which I learned after extensive research since the receipt had the name of Regents from Daly City.(?)
I am really upset since I have a very importany presentation and research papers on it, besides family pictures I cherish a lot.
The company promised they will try to locate the driver and see if he found the laptop. The manager also told me that a passenger coming behind me could have found it . I doubt it since it was 2 o'clock.in the morning and no moire planes were arriving at the airport.
I hope to be able to write a real excellent review for this company Bay Cab 410, if my laptop shows up. Or if a passanger took the cab after me and found it, please contact me at ofeliacarrara@hotmail.com and I will be more than thankful to have it back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carol P.CA, CA138Jul 31, 2013
I have never felt compelled to right a review until today. I now have an account to share this frightening experience. I got in the cab at 3rd and Market and needed to get quickly to the Ferry Building. When we arrived the driver of the taxi spoke his first words when I handed him my card. He rudely ask for cash I told him I don't carry cash and he proceeded to curse at me. When I ask for his ID I then noticed there was no identification of any kind in the cab. He claimed his machine was not working I pointed out the carbon copy receipts in his visor. Still he screamed at me. I got out and photographed the company phone number and cab number. Got back in an attempted to pay with my card to the same response. I called the cab company as he got out of car and followed until I started yelling for security of which he stood outside the Ferry Building until security was notified. I am a frequent traveller worldwide and I have never had such a frightening experience in a taxi. Cab #1393. Management of the taxi company could not be bothered. Picked up cab #562 at SFO, asking the driver beforehand whether he knows his way around Redwood City, to which he answered yes. After heading out of the airport, he asks for the address and says he's got no idea where it is. No GPS, of course. We stop on the shoulder in the middle of the highway for me to take out my GPS from the bag in the trunk. After asking to stop the meter while I search for the GPS, he declines and says "I'll give you a good deal". Using the GPS, I give him directions to where he needs to go. Manages to miss an exit. Does a U-turn on a no-U-turn intersection. When we finally arrived, he asks me to pay the full price (including the time I spent looking for my GPS to guide him and the missed exit), amounting to about $10 over the regular price I usually pay from SFO to my place. I decline, to which he says he'll drive off with my bags in his trunk. I call SF 311 (http://sf311.org/) explaining the situation to them and asking what to do. They advise me to call the police if he doesn't want to give me my property back. Not wanting to call the police, I tried calling Fog City Cab three times, no answer. In the end, I payed the price he asked, in fear of the goon actually driving off with my bags.
