" Meet me under the clock" is more than a famous phrase in movies and pop culture as many still use this iconic central clock as a meeting point upon arrival at the world's largest station.
The architecture and history of the entire place is rich and amazing. It's vastness holds some interesting "secrets." There is the whispering gallery ( pretty cool to amaze kids and amuse adults) secret rooms and walkways behind the windows, and the celestial mural on the ceiling is actually backwards. You can take a tour and hear all about it or simply read online. Truly fascinating.
There are high end shops and food of all kinds. There is also a market with fresh fruits, meats, cheese, bread, spices and flowers to peruse. Costly, but most certainly worth a stroll.
Although I have been here countless times for practical reasons (traveling to the city), even in a mad rush I am still in awe of its grandeur and beauty and marvel at the ingenuity of it all!

I definitely preferred the Penn Station Terminal over Grand central. All the food and kiosks closed well before 8pm. There wasn't much in the area either. At Penn station there's are a ton of food options.

Iconic NYC landmark serving as a functioning train station. Absolutely stunning ceiling in the main lobby. Interior and exterior architecture are amazing.

The major transportation terminus of New York City, Grand Central Station is a great place to enter and have a look, if just to see the majesty of the open dome and all the travelers busily crossing the gateways to get where they want to go. We stopped by on a hot, humid September Thursday, and marveled at the architecture of the inside and out. The fresco at the top reminded me of Tiffany Blue. One can use Google Maps to get where you need to go, and it is surreal to think you can get to Los Angeles Union Station clear across the country, just by Amtrak (though it will take you 3 days).

A wonder of architecture and hardly showing its age after all these years. The main terminal hall is such a sight. Between the people watching and the ceilings, I didn't know where to look first.

Aside from being beautiful, it is spotless and efficient. It was very easy to read the digital boards with the routes and departure times. Ticket purchase was seamless. The train ride was so enjoyable as well. The cars are clean and comfortable.

Not too crowded when I went. Just a place cross off my list. It's historical but didn't really astonish me

About as epic as you can imagine. The numerous amounts of movies and shows filmed here and you still don't understand the scale of it until you step inside. Heading to the airport was easy, I took the LIRR (Long Island Railroad) to JFK. It reminded me of those nice bullet trains in Europe. Quick, easy, affordable. It was a $5 ticket, and than once you got the airport train it was $8.25 entry. A lot cheaper than a $100 Uber or Lyft and zero traffic.

This has quite a history in the city and used to be called Grand Central Station. It's the central hub for the commuter rail services and also connects to the New York Subway system. The incredible architecture has enabled to give it designation as a National Landmark. There are many stores and bars located within. I think it was built in the teens like 1915 or so.

I'm sure I'm biased. Someone visiting from Europe will probably give this train station just a passing grade.
For me, coming occasionally from Connecticut to visit New York City, grand central terminal is a gateway to the city and a very comfortable place to visit in any case. The place is beautiful and spacious, offers lots of food options, including the Oysters Bar, restaurant, a venerable New York institution (huge menu at Oysters Bar is printed daily and based on the daily catch) - I took a train to New York City a few times just to eat there.
Grand Central Terminal has lots of history associated with it and it is a great place to explore especially if you visiting the city as a tourist.

Iconic. There's no other word for it. My only complaint is that it's always packed, but that's to be expected.
