I interviewed 3 different realtors to put my mother's home in Alameda on the market. Guy Blume was by far the best. He made the process very painless. Home went on the market at $795,000. I originally found Guy from researching what agents were able to get great prices selling older Alameda homes which may need work as my late do-it-yourself Father's home of over 40 years initially did. Guy stood heads over others coming polished and prepared even for a short notice initial meeting in the thick of the Holiday season and having quick knowledgeable answers to all of our questions including questions we didn't even know we had to begin with!
Guy was always very generous with his knowledge and time and extremely patient as our home was not an easy project by any means. Guy took the time to understand the sensitive nature of selling my very special childhood home and worked with me to restore it to it's glory and get the kind of buyer I could feel good knowing would be the next family to make our special place their home. He always listened and worked with me, getting the results we wanted and then some both emotionally and financially.

Although the exterior had been painted recently, and the roof had been replaced within the past few years, basically the interior was still 1955 vintage. Guy Blume, along with his partner Sophia Niu, did an outstanding job selling our modest Alameda house (2 bed, 1 bath, under 800 square feet) in early 2017. They completely surpassed our expectations, getting us multiple offers and a sale price that was more than 20% above the list price. Throughout the process, Guy, Sophia, and the entire team at the Guy Blume Group were a delight to work with: unfailingly professional, well-organized, transparent in their processes, cheerful, and always available to answer questions. We can't recommend them highly enough!

We were impressed by Guy and Sophia's astute assessment of our house, their marketing & pricing strategies, and their analysis of the pre-sale prep that needed to happen (and what wasn't necessary). They also did an excellent job explaining the steps and costs involved in selling a house, something that we as first-time sellers really appreciated.

Because our house was small and on a busy street, it would have been easy to dismiss its sale potential. Guy and Sophia took the opposite approach, embracing the challenge. They truly cared about getting us an amazing outcome. No detail was too small for them. For example, when Guy felt that the stagers hadn't selected the right light fixtures for the house, he drove to San Francisco himself to purchase them. To get the best possible images of the house and garden, Guy insisted on doing both morning and twilight photo shoots. (And he was right: the resulting photos were magical.) When potential buyers were nervous about square footage & storage space, Guy was ready with info and photos of the attic storage. When the open house was so successful that it ran an hour longer than scheduled, Guy and Sophia stayed late. When our family's busy lives made an earlier meeting-time impossible, they were happy to meet with us at 8 pm.

Guy's expertise as a seller's agent and a negotiator is another reason why we were so happy working with him. He is amazing. He understands what motivates buyers and how to create an environment in which a house is likely to get multiple offers. In our case, when the time came to negotiate, Guy knew exactly which offers to counter and what to ask for. He was always protecting our interests and advocating for us, politely, pleasantly, but unflinchingly. His advice is clear-eyed, realistic, very strategic, and offered gently but in a straightforward way. Guy is definitely the person you want in your corner during a negotiation.

The bottom line: Guy, Sophia, and the Guy Blume Group are absolutely the best. We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell in Alameda or the surrounding communities. We would give them 10 stars if we could!

This was our second time working with Guy in two years. If you're not going to read this review beyond these words, please keep in mind that we worked with Guy to buy our house AND to sell it only two years later. We were happy buyers AND sellers. That should tell you how great he is!

We bought our town home in Bay Farm (94502) during the peak season in 2014 and he was fabulous to work with. We were first time home buyers working with the VA Loan, brand new parents with an infant, and had extremely busy work schedules. He was able to accommodate us in every way, working early morning to late night to fit our schedules, that we wondered when or if he slept. He helped us strategize for the perfect home to fit our desires and limitations, and on our second offer, we landed a home that we adored. We cherished our home and our daughter took her first steps there.

Fast forward two years, when we had to make a big move to Southern California, we debated between renting it out and selling it. When we decided to sell, we did not hesitate to reach out to Guy. He was the perfect agent so why would we waste time looking for another agent to help us sell? We had to work until the day before the big move, so we had no time to get the house ready to sell. So we put it on the market AFTER we moved out of the property, which would have been impossible without someone as willing, as helpful, as resourceful, and as amazing as Guy and his team (including Michelle). He again helped us strategize for a successful sale and we received two offers when homes were not selling as quickly as before. One of them was very attractive that we accepted without a fuss. The closing took a bit longer than anticipated due to some issues entirely outside of Guy's or the buyers' or our control. At the end of the day, we had a successful sale so the delay, although disappointing, was not detrimental.

He is intelligent, savvy, quick, resourceful, responsive, organized, and overall a fantastic agent. His assistant Michelle is of the same caliber. We wholeheartedly recommend working with Guy.

We had lived in our home for 30+ years, so it was stressful getting ready for the sale. Guy was patient with us when we had to reschedule the staging because of all the years compilation we needed to organize.
It went on the market 5/1/16 and we had 8 offers on 5/12/16. It was a quick yet bittersweet sale. Even though we got over $100K over list price, leaving Alameda was a hard decision for us. Guy's process expertise and negotiation skills were top of the line. Thank you, Guy.

After using other realtors in the past I can definitely say that Guy is the best one I've used. He focused on how to get me the most money for my home and his team helped along the way which made me feel like I was always part of the process. I love how hands-on he was in preparing our house for sale from start to finish. A similar house sold nearby and he got us way more money for our house. We couldn't be happier. As much work and stress there can be in selling your home, I had the most enjoyable experience selling mine. I interviewed several realtors, one of which is a close friend, but when I met with Guy Blume of Harbor Bay Realty, I knew I met the right one. Guy's personality is just so calm and caring and honest that I trusted him from the start. He gave me expert advice on how to prepare the house for sale, used a stager who's work and price was very reasonable, used a fabulous photographer who even used a drone for overhead shots and was so very flexible when it came to scheduling open houses. He made sure that other agents respected my time and privacy since I remained living in the house until after the sale. From the start, he expressed a gratefulness and humbleness that I found so endearing. He kept referring to my house as a million dollar property until I was sure that he was right. He held a well-attended open house with refreshments and within days we had a very serious, very good offer. I not only was very pleased with the final negotiated price but we were able to cancel the second open house and we negotiated an extended stay for me since the house sold so quickly. Guy doesn't mind getting his hands dirty either. He was at the house for inspections, utility installations and managed projects requested by the buyers. Guy truly goes above and beyond your expectations. Weeks after close of escrow and my move out of the house he saw to it that my car was safely loaded onto a truck for shipping, had boxes and debris removed from the house and to this day is still standing by me to assure that I receive all deposits due me. This was made all the more important when we were told by the buyer's agent that she was no longer responsible for anything since the contracts had been signed. Wow. Don't look any further, go with the guy who will be your proponent and agent long after the sale is closed. He truly cares and looks after his clients. He's the greatest and I am so very grateful for everything he's done.
