I am glad I found this place. One of the very best authentic Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area.

Overall, the price is decent and food portions still are huge. Food was tasty. Customer service is okay. :)
The Golden Egg Yolk with Sliced Fish Pumpkin is so yummy. This is a must order dish.
The Ong Choy is good.
The Home Style Rice Noodle is kinda dry and the Beef Stew is so salty.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Sep 20, 2021Previous reviewAnother great meals ordered it from Hing Lung Cafe
Every dishes are tasty and yummy especially the steamed surf clams with vermicelli in garlic sauce, fresh and very good texture.

Will definitely come back and try some more of thier foods - Hubert L.San Francisco, CAJul 3, 2024
Come across this place by accident. Found out that they are the same folks that ran the cafe, of same name, at the SF Chinatown location on Broadway street near Stockton Street. Had rice noodle in fish broth and my boss had a porridge. Place has that old feel despite a newer "modern " look, which is great. Waiter took our order "old school" style, one or two Chinese characters on a scrap piece of paper. Owner brought food out. Taste is exactly what I can recall from their original location in SF Chinatown. Price is reasonable in today's market. Definitely deserves a return.

For your information, I ordered Take out on 6/21/2024, there's service fee if you pay with card. Luckily I had cash on hand. Confirm with staff when you order.

This place offers very delicious Cantonese cuisines. It's very hard to find yummy 牛脷酥 in the entire Bay Area lol but this place has it!! I am very happy!
Definitely will come back! The only complaint is the parking, so hard to find a spotHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 31, 2022
If you are looking for home style Cantonese comfort food this is your spot. I know there are some reviews where they choose more traditional Chinese American dishes like sweet and sour chicken but for this spot during lunch you should go with either the congee or the won ton mein. That's pretty much what the OG Hing Lung versions in SF were known for. The fried bread (cow's tongue in canto) and the fried donut are really good fresh. Nice and crispy. The Fried bread is a little sweet and you can just eat it like a donut. The fried donut is more like a fried bread with no flavoring. Good for the crispiness and for eating with congee.
But for the lunch hour you want to get congee, wonton and fried bread as those come out fast and they have the fried items freshly made. Probably not as good if you get it at dinner and it was produced at lunch. We did also order the salted egg yolk pumpkin and wings. While it was good they only include like 6 wings so just don't be surprised when it doesn't seem like enough. Looking at other reviews it looks like that's the standard here so I guess food costs are going up. Was pretty good but portion size has something left to be desired.
We also came by to try their dinner food and they have a couple of special set menus where you choose from a number of items. I would say it was pretty decent in terms of food choices, but again it leans more towards Cantonese home style food. We got the $128 menu for 6 which came with a soup and peking duck. The soup was actually really good with the ginseng and made with silky chicken. The rest of the meal was pretty decent. Not the best but not bad either.
So if you are looking for homestyle Canto food this will bring back some memories of the OG Hing Lung in Chinatown and the version on 19th ave.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 8, 2023
Hing Lung Cafe is my to go place for congee especially on a cold day. These are my must order items. These dishes never disappoint me. Staff was friendly and service was quick. There's a parking lot near by so if you can't find street parking you can park at the parking lot.

Salt and pepper spareribs pork chops were completely dry, almost like jerky. I'm surprised they even served the dish. $16.99
Fish and tofu clay pot was decent, but without any vegetables (fish, tofu and shitake mushrooms). $17.99
A bowl of rice was slightly under $3.
Ambiance - not great. Tables are crowded together and bench seating shifts when people behind push it. Constant cigarette smoke smell while dining. Probably from the back, as I didn't see anyone smoking in the front of the restaurant.
It was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Sad to say I won't be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 2, 2022
Hing Lung Cafe earned its name back in the 90s at their original location in SF on the popular food street of Broadway Chinatown. In my opinion, they still make the best porridge in the Bay Area. My favorite is their pork with preserved egg congee. Chowder texture and super flavorful! Best if you eat it hot with the Chinese fried donut aka yao tiu.
