They are very quick and efficient in these Covid times! They keep the kittens and cats together and very well taken for!

Gracie adopted 3 weeks ago, now 8/14/20 just yesterday turned 4 months! Super sweet and spunky!

Honestly they would rather hold the animals hostage for the rest of their lives in adopt them out the people that will love them and take care of them I have heard so many stories of the same thing over and over about this business. I have had my eye on howie for quite some time now. You have to go down to the shelter and you also have to bring any animals in your house as well down to the shelter to meet the cat or dog. This is utter bullshit. Do you have somebody who is interested in adopting an animal and you're unwilling to do a house call. I have adopted many pets in my life and never ever have I gone through a business that refuses to adopt their cats and dogs out like they're stuck forever in this prison. It's horrible... so if you happen to get howie out of there I would love to have him and will pay extra!

there is only one word to use here, Wow.

My dog needed dental work, and we were getting quotes in the thousands to get her taken care of.

Home fur good treated my pup so well in their dental clinic, she had 18 teeth removed and they provided antibiotics.

so inexpensive (less that 25% of what we were quoted elsewhere) and so caring, they truly loved my Suzy almost as much as I do.

I made an appointment to meet and adopt a kitten and was amazed to walk in and see kittens running freely in their room, with toys and cat trees everywhere! They looked so happy to be there! All of the staff was so wonderful and friendly. When I adopted my kitten, they gifted me a package of litter and a very nice, comfortable cat carrier. They had all of my kittens' medical records to hand to me and were very knowledgeable. When talking to the staff, it made me so happy to know their stories and the stories of the animals that they save. Very happy to adopt from them!

While we ultimately didn't adopt from Home Fur Good, I visited twice and spent an hour or two in the cat room getting to know the kitties. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cats seemed to be well loved. As any room with over a dozen cats would be, it was a little cluttered and chaotic, but the cats were safe and relaxed.

I adopted a precious seal point Himalayan senior ("est DOB January 12, 2010") a week ago today. She was found by a Good Samaritan 3 weeks prior as a shy dirty stray. HFG christianed her "Gladys". A couple days after my adopting her and giving lots of cuddling, cooing, and coaxing with toys, she became outgoing, talkative, blissful, and gaining more weight. I decidedly kept her name :)

My previous Persian, a tortie named Melody, passed away peacefully at 17 on October 12, 2017 of senior kidney failure. After heavy mourning and after the holidays, I felt ready to love on a new Persian adult or senior Furbaby. Melody was my 3rd Persian and I was open to having a Himmie for the 1st time. I bookmarked regional Persian breeders & rescues sites, as well as various shelters. I monitored each daily. One afternoon, I checked Petfinder and lo & behold, Gladys' profile popped up. I just had to meet and consider adopting her(!)

I immediately filled out their online adoption inquiry. Judy the volunteer texted me the following morning. I texted back to make an appt with her to meet Gladys the following morning after they opened at 11. Judy showed me the cat room where I met Gladys. I fell in love with her and expressed that I was taking her home. I signed the contract and took Gladys home inside my 'Louis Vuitton' pet duffel carrier. Her adoption fee included exam, shots, dental, spay, microchip, and a 2-week grace period for a free wellness check with their vet at a nearby animal hospital of their choice. She also got a beauty treatment by a professional groomer. Judy gave me dry food sample, a donated goodie bag of toys and a little blankie, along with a separate blanket for me to place inside the carrier to keep her more comfortable on the way home. She also gave me her direct contact info if I had any Qs or need consultation about something*.
The entire adoption process was professional.

Upon returning home, Gladys exited her pet carrier and began to explore her new home. She bopped my Shih Tzu dog, Romeo Blu, letting him know not to come too close to her as she roamed. Gladys was still a little shy. While she acclimated in her new home with me & Romeo, *she was not eating (only drinking water and using the littler box). I texted Judy about it, and It was decided that maybe it was stress or that she wanted different food. I nixed the sample food and provided Gladys higher quality dry (kitten) food and Gladys immediately ate it (even stuck her head in the bag first) before I managed to pour it in her bowl. What a relief because she needed to gain weight. I was alarmed about that and took it out at HFG. She didn't need to be perfect- flaw or not, she's with me for life and that's my utmost commitment to her when I met her...

I am blessed to have Gladys in my life. A Himmie is truly hard to come by. I often wonder of her past and how she became a stray (and how long) and managed to survive out in the desert cold. I wonder about her previous family and how she was treated. Whatever- what's past is past. She has moved on and approved of me and Romeo. I look forward to many more years and memories with Gladys. I am sure she is thankful to have met me and that I grabbed her before it's too late, right? Welcome home, Gladys. Thanks, HFG!

Home Fur Good is a non-profit rescue center run by volunteers, a vet, and vet techs since 2009 founded by a small group of people who recognized a need for an independent rescue program and a stand-alone facility. The building houses a cat room where the kitties run around, and they have a backyard for the dogs to exercise. They have a little gift shop. They take in animals on the E-list from the county and also strays. They have vaccine & microchip days and offer dental care. They also offer Sunday adoptions at a nearby Petsmart on Tatum/Shea. Support (no-kill) local rescues!

I had a wonderful experience adopting today. So many people offering so much help. They gave me plenty of time to get to know Ribbi and be certain we were meant to be a family. They also gave me plenty of food, treats and toys to start our lives together.

      First to Review

FYI, Home Fur Good's old location just up 32nd Street had eight reviews and a five star average. It's unfortunate those reviews have not transferred over to the new location.

Remember folks, this is not PetSmart, even though Home Fur Good does do adoption events there. It is a non profit volunteer rescue organization and should be evaluated as such. With that perspective in mind, HFG can only be considered to be awesome!

I've never volunteered here. Never adopted a pet here. But I have had several interactions with HFG, all good. They have been nothing but kind and professional. Most recently, we visited this location to see a dog that was available for adoption. They were amazingly patient with us. Two long visits and an adverse family allergy reaction later, I'm afraid this pooch had to find a forever home elsewhere, but a very positive impression had been made by the volunteers at HFG. We bought a few items at the small gift shop they operate on site, perhaps out of guilt, and went on our way.

Yes, they do hold vaccination and microchip events every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Very affordable. Check their website for detailed pricing.
