I have been to this shelter many times in the last 30 years. The current manager, Clay, is amazing! He cares about everyone of his animals, and does his best to rehome them to good places. He goes out of his way to keep strays and lost animals safe until they can be picked up by their owners. I wish every shelter was as good as this one but unfortunately, most of them aren't. Thank you Clay for your good work and for caring!

Good staff, helpful and very happy to assist you in getting a pet. Just got our first dog here.

Need better signage for first-time visitors. We parked at the old building, which looks like some old WWII small airplane hanger. I was expecting some old guy named Cooter to come out and chase me off with a wrench in his fist.

Walked over to new building, which is clean and very nice.

It wasn't the best place before, I'll admit. But they've renovated semi-recently and it's so much better! I love the cats' room, it's really easy to look around and my dog-people parents were tempted to adopt one!!

We had an amazing experience here. We came in, were given the space we wanted to walk around and see the dogs ourselves. When we found a few that we would like to visit with, we were able to take them out to play in either a small gated area or over to the bark park to let them run and play. After meeting with a few dogs and not quite finding the right fit, we explained who we were looking for to a volunteer, Ellen, who was able to introduce us to a few lovely dogs, including the one we took home that day. She was able to tell us his whole story and even let us take him home for a "trial run" just to be sure he fit with our home. When we took him back to officially sign the adoption papers, they did a heart worm test and microchipped him, then explained how to register his rabies vaccination and what vets they recommend. Afterward, every volunteer came out to say goodbye to our sweet dog. He had been there a while and it was clear that everybody truly loved him and would miss him.

The animals are loved, the volunteers are knowledgeable, and the adoption process is expedient. I think very highly of the Humane Society for Animals! And if you don't see the dog you want online, come by anyway! Most of their pets aren't there long enough to be put online, and you may miss your chance to meet someone very special.

I love this place! Can they use some help, some love...? Yes. I wish we could do more, adopt more.... I am so happy to see what they can do with the little they receive.

Conditions for the animals are awful. I have never been to a shelter this depressing. The volunteers we spoke with were very sweet and helpful, but the actual employees were so judgmental and not willing to help or be accommodating. I feel so bad for the animals that have to live here.

First, I'm giving this location only 4 stars because, granted, they don't get a lot of funding like fancy places. So yes, that means they have to make do with few significant donations from wealthy people and organizations like some of the best places in the world have. Now, that said, I've seen this organization, this facility and manager, do very well with what they do have, and have put them in my will so that I can help when that time comes, rather than the city-operated facility where I have more often wept for the care and future, typically short, of the animals at the city shelter.

I have rescued a number of animals and taken them to this location over the last 20 years and almost always, always found out later that those animals did better there than other similar locations in the area. The manager has even helped advise me when I dealt with abusive pet owners who needed the right stimulus to release their abused and neglected pets to the Humane Society for rescue. Moreover, this Humane Society has even helped with immediate and urgent medical care when I fostered some of the animals I rescued.

As for the manager, he is the most dedicated man I have met in animal rescue. I have been at this facility a number of times when they were closing and watched him carry, CARRY many of the dogs from their outside pens to the inside. He did not drag them on a leash when they were not leash trained or were too timid to comply with the leash. In contrast, the last time I called for the city animal services to help with a stray animal, they violently snared the dog and most forcibly drug and threw them into their truck, then later could not tell me what happened to the dog! These are all reasons why I highly prefer the Humane Society of Rogers, Arkansas.

Lastly, for those who were so quick to criticize this facility, let me ask you, when was the last time you volunteered your time and made significant donations to this facility? Yes, we ALL hate the smell of bleach and it doesn't smell good no matter what you combine it with. But, it kills deadly germs and viruses, and it is affordable. And, what kind of attitude do you expect all volunteers to have when people are dropping off animals at all times of the day and night, even outside of their fence, then running away without any regard for the animals (do they make it into the facility or wander off, freeze, die for heat and thirst or hunger or even medical emergency before management discovers them)? What kind of attitude could you maintain over weeks, months and years when people expect you to provide them with services you'd expect when paying hundreds or thousands of dollars at a veterinarian's or high-end rescue operation? This is a terrible job to endure if you love animals, knowing that humanity, our civilization could end this very quickly, but instead relegates it to the bottom of the rung of charities. Yet, the Humane Society animal shelter in Rogers has consistently provided hope and homes with much less death for the dogs and cats than most other animal shelters in this area.

So for those of you who want to do nothing but expect service on a silver platter, sure, please, go somewhere else. But if you love dogs and cats, step up to the plate here and support this facility with your time and money, and be grateful that they are doing a great job on an incredibly slim budget.

While there are many terrible things that I could point out about this shelter I'll stick to the most important and note worthy.

If you get weary at the smell of any kind of strong cleaner I would stay away from the kennels. They clean with a bleach solution which when mixed with the usual smell of an animal shelter, is absolutely horrendous. You can't genuinely look a dog for more then 5 minutes without getting woozy.

Puppies not up your ally? Well that's alright, they have cat & kitten rooms available to wonder in. Just be careful, the litter boxes are hardly ever cleaned, there is food all over the floor and that smell.. 10x worse. It's like they threw a bunch of sick kitties in a building and didn't bother to care for them. It's actually quite sad.

Lastly, the staff. Adopting a shelter pet can be a great experience provided you have the right assistance, good luck getting any here. Although on most days the front desk is full of staff/volunteers they would much rather stand around and talk then give any service to new customers; and when you finally get someone to say "can I help you?" don't expect much. They will point you in some general direction and leave you to your own devices. Excuse me, but I'd like to have someone explain to me what it is that this "hard working bunch" does exactly. If you're ever curious about the individuals in the vests, they are the community service people. From what I've seen they do more work then the actual employees/volunteers (on a good day).

The only reason I'm giving this establishment 2 stars is because I love animals, and if this place wasn't in "business" all the animals that reside there would be euthanized without even getting the chance of adoption. If anything this place should encourage you to rescue a poor animal; if not from the streets from these people.

Very dedicated and carrying employees and volunteers!! Clay is so helpful, guiding us through the entire facility and explaining the stories and personalities of each dog. We adopted the most PERFECT dog a week ago. Thank you to all the employees and volunteers. It is so sad to see how many dogs they have that need a home. Fortunately, those dogs are taken care with love while they are there. Please donate, volunteer or adopt a dog from the Roger's Humane Society.
