TL:DR friendly staff, okay flavors, cheap quality, overpriced everything.

This extremely anticipated replacement of Antojo seems like it's just going to be Antojo 2.0 or just a Culichi Town in disguise. My partner and I visited on the grand opening (which was a disaster) and have been a few more times in the recent weeks to give them a fair chance.

The food, while decent, is all overpriced. Every item carries a mid/high-class price tag but delivers with low-quality ingredients and LONG wait times. My most recent visit was earlier this week, the place was empty with the exception of one person at the bar who seemed to either work there or was a friend of the bartender. Friends of the staff hanging out at the bar seems to be a common occurrence, which isn't usually a problem, but more often than not, one of them is airplaying something off of their phone to one of the TVs behind the bar (thanks for the spoilers of The Last of Us). We ordered a round of drinks and a single entrée, which took a little over 20 minutes. I could be wrong, but the $18 torta that was delivered was outright insulting. You can find a better torta literally anywhere else for half the price and it will actually come with a side. A short while later we ordered a roll, waited another 20 minutes, and was surprised to see there was more pickled onion on the plate than anything else. The roll was okay but I struggle to find a reason to come back here for sushi when you can walk three blocks away for better quality at a better price.

The drinks we had were all off-menu and suggested by the bartender as their "cocktail menu is not finalized yet" - a phrase we've heard during all 4 visits we've had. There's something to be said when you're paying $15 for a margarita but the bar is using a lime-juice concentrate that can be bought at Costco for $6/gallon (Del Destino, to be exact) and a tequila that is so deep in the well you need spelunking gear to find it. While the margaritas were a letdown, the other off-menu cocktails were actually pretty great and will make me consider coming back if I'm in the mood for a creative drink.
The staff seem to be aware they may be on a sinking ship. To their credit, all the staff have been friendly but when the place is busy, it seems like no one in particular is in charge and employees struggle to get answers/help when they really need it. It also seems like even when there are multiple bartenders, there isn't a single person in charge of managing drinks at the bar and service drinks take priority.
Aside from my complaint about price/quality, my second biggest complaint is that it is LOUD. If you were passing by on a weekend, you would think this place is a club and not a restaurant. It's actually so loud that you have to shout at the person directly next to you to be audible. It seems I'm not the only one as several other review mention this. The identity issues of this place are right in your face, the décor is nice but the dining area is a polar opposite of the restrooms. You can tell where things were rushed and which corners have been cut.

I wish this restaurant the best but I can't help but feel that this corner will once again be vacant in the coming months.

***DISCLAIMER*** The liquor was watered down, but the food, now the food was something else. By that I mean it was not seasoned, overcooked, and most importantly, how in the wide wide world do you mess up rice. Not spanish rice, not cilantro rice with lime, not seasoned rice, but rice that taste like the rice cooker took a 5 minute break and unplugged itself mid cook. The atmosphere is great, the decorations are nice, but seriously, if your saying to yourself "lets go pregame before going to the club" or "this place looks great, lets go eat there" after looking on yelp, I have done the work of eating there and for a party of 16 to all simultaneously not enjoy their food , its going to be a absolute no from me.

0/10 do not recommend. I don't even make yelp reviews but the overall experience was so awful, don't waste your time.

Really bad first impression. Ordered online to go, showed up and the security guard tells me that they are closed and I am not allowed in, due to a private party. Looked up the info on their website before I went to make sure and the phone number posted on their website doesn't work, same as Yelp..I show up and Sergio the manager is closing out about 8-10 bills from the private party. I show him my order on the phone and he has me wait. 5 minutes later another customer comes in, gets her order and leaves. He takes about 10 minutes closing tabs and goes back to the kitchen and doesn't come out. This entire time there are no less than 5 employees just standing around doing nothing and nobody asking me anything. One of the girls noticed me waiting for a while, so I went up to her and let her know Sergio was getting my order. She goes back to the kitchen. He comes out and spends another 5 minutes talking to friends. When he is done, she asks if she can give me my order, she gives it to me and I left. The portion size for cost was underwhelming. The meat had good flavor and was cooked properly. The beans were good, but the rice was hard/crusty for being warm and wasn't able to eat it, which sucked, because I poured the beans over the rice expecting it to have a normal texture.
I won't be going back, more based off the service than the food. The people with the bad reviews on here, I can see why.

Beware menu prices prices aren't updated. (They won't tell you when they seat you though)
Try to scam you into paying $5 more for everything on the menu.

The drinks were weak. This place is definitely stingy with the alcohol.

I don't really like to go to restaurants that serve Mexican food but the food was actually really good here. I got the chicken enchiladas plate and the flavor was actually good. If a restaurant has good food you can tell by the refried beans ! We also got the large mango blended slushie with tequila and it was sooo good we chugged it fast.

This place is Located right in downtown sac, it's close to pretty much everything. I highly suggest coming here with your homegirls, on a date, or just if you need a night out! We tried many times to go to this spot and every time it was closed during what was posted as open hours. The phone number on site is disconnected and no one seems to show up to open. When we finally got in the prices were higher than what we saw on their Instagram and the sizes of the drinks were half the size. Not the mention what we ordered was nothing like what we saw on social media and did not taste like a margarita in any way. They told us they had to change the cups because the bigger ones all broke... The place was completely empty on a Saturday which said it all.

Great first impression at La capital! The ambiance and vibes are IT!! Perfect for date night or night with the girls. The menu has an interesting variety, with items I have never tried which I like. Also the service and presentation of the food is Instagram worthy Will be back for sure!!
