Had a great time at this location. Ordered a grilled salmon dinner. Great food and service.

A party of six of us were looking for a place to eat this past Sunday. The place had been intending to go closed early, so we searched for a Mexican restaurant near us, and found Mezcal Grill. I am sure glad the other place was closed because the food here was on point. I enjoined the bowl of fish ceviche and a couple of crispy tacos. My wife had a nopal plate that came with rice & beans.
Sometimes it can be hard to find good ceviche. But the ceviche here was very tasty and authentic. The crispy tacos, one with carne asada and the other with ground beef, were both very good. The fresh red & green salsa's tasted really good with just the right amount of heat. They went well with the tacos.
The nopal plate my wife ordered was delicious. I know because she gave me a taste. Usually she doesn't eat everything, so I am able to enjoy some of her food, but this time she wiped it out. It was that good. She loved it.
I won't go into what those in the rest of our group ate, but they loved the food too. We ordered a couple of classic margaritas and a couple other mixed drinks as well. We all left happy.
I will say this. Since we moved up to a small town about an hour north of Sacramento from San Diego, we have been searching to find good places to eat in general, including Mexican food. So we visit Sacramento often in our search. We have found several places thus far, and yesterday we found a gem here at Mezcal Grill, and are already looking forward to our next visit.
I only have one regret. I didn't take any pictures to share. Sorry!
Thank you for the great food & friendly service!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Wendell A.East Sacramento, Sacramento, CA02217Jul 26, 2024

Let me start by saying my friend unfortunately got sick so he's content on never returning....understandable So 1 Star taken away for his tummy debacle from his steak burrito.
While they were understaffed the evening we went the service was still overall good.
I love love love a good mole sauce and my mole enchiladas were delicious. And the drinks were not only refreshing but they were also strong and yummy to the taste. Also can't say no to complementary chips and dips. Whew one was spicy but equally tasty.
This place is located down the street from my place so u will definitely be checking it out again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Sep 30, 2022Previous reviewI have passed this place several times and never thought to stop. After looking up some places to eat on yelp this gem came up and I rolled the dice. With that said I was pleasantly surprised with this place. My friend and I both started with a round of cocktails. I had the lavender old fashioned and he had La mula roja both drinks were must haves. The place was understaffed but the service was still stellar considering. The staff that was present did their best to make sure my guy and I had everything we needed. Onto the entrees, I ordered the mole enchilada plate, and my friend ordered the burrito. He said his steak burrito was nothing to write home about but when he added the habanero salsa from the bar it amped the burrito up a notch. I will say the thing was pretty massive. On the flip side I enjoyed my meal. The mole was a great blend of chocolate, flavorful and seasoned well. I will say the rice and beans were lukewarm at best. I will attribute that to the lack of staff. Nonetheless both were delicious and when I heated my leftovers at home, I could tell had they be served hot and fresh at the restaurant I would have been in love. Overall seeing that this place is less than a mile from my place I will definitely give it another try.

Mezcal Grill is such a great option for Mexican food in Sac! The staff here is so accommodating and nice to big or small parties.
We ordered Tacos de Papas and a Vegetarian Burrito bowl (Special points goes to this place because you can turn most burritos into bowls at no extra charge!). The tacos were crispy and delicious! We loved the presentation and the simplicity of the rice and beans on the side.
The burrito bowl was loaded with rice, beans, fajita veggies, pico, sour cream, guac. It was good and super filling.
But, I do think both items needed some hot sauce or salsa to elevate them a little because they were a bit bland.
Overall, I think this is one of the better options for mexican food in Sac. Def worth a try!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laurie T.Davis, CA89465Sep 7, 2024
We don't live very close to this restaurant, we usually only stop by if we're in town for some other reason. And the reason we keep "stopping by" is because the food and drinks are quite nice! Never had a server or staff person who wasn't welcoming. Never had slow or bad service. Two 's that always show good sporting events--no sound of course. The food and service are reliably consistent. Two thumbs up.

This place has become my favorite spot in Sacramento for Mexican food. They are consistent with good service and great food. The wait staff is always friendly and the drinks are tasty! (Order the BIG margarita). You can't go wrong with the enchiladas and taco combo! Bonus- their guacamole is delicious - fresh and chunky! Worth all the $$$

Wanted to find a New Mexican restaurant to try. This place did not disappoint!! And ordered chili verde , beer with Tajin on the rim yum, side of guacamole snd chips. My wife got a large blackberry margarita ( it's s big one) , and sopes. The device was great and the food options and drinks looked so good. We will be back to try more drinks and food.

The food made up for quality of service we got from the girl that initially sat us down.
Our actual server was very kind and attentive.
I had the molcajete de camarones and mezcal Michelada.
The molcajete de camaron was delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the flavor was excellent!
The shrimp was also cleaned very well. Most restaurants get lazy and don't properly clean out their shrimp but Mezcal Grill didn't miss with this one.
The Mezcal Michelada was it was huge (32oz) and so good!
I will definitely be back to try more of their menu!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 30, 2024
My husband and I checked out this place and really liked it. Their drinks are very refreshing and it was nice sitting outside in the patio on a hot day. The free chips and salsa were great and service was good too. Great ceviche and my husband also liked his fajitas.
