Do you only rescue small dogs? I read a review that mentioned it. And the pics show mostly smaller dogs. I received a letter requesting a donation that I am willing to give. I just want to know the facts Thank you

I own and operate a doggy daycare and have had several Muttville adopted dogs as clients. Every single dog has been a top tier client. Behaved exactly as described by the muttville team. Thank you Muttville team for all you do for the senior dogs in our community!

Wow, I'm shocked at such a total lack of communication and that the dog we agreed to take was adopted out from under us. It was a larger dog that we had to make accommodations for in our house but we had to wait anyways because he was undergoing treatments. One of which was heartworm disease. Fine, we had already met him and were just waiting for the green light after he was all better. We were told that we could see him again but not that he was ready to go home. We agreed to see him again but weren't available that day. I'd check the site periodically just in case but nothing. Next thing, gone! We made it clear we wanted him throughout the correspondence and they told us they would let us know when he's done with treatment and ready. Nope! Of course I'm glad the Great Dane found a home but I'm devastated after such an unnecessary ordeal. We both have worker in the vet industry and thought we could give him a good home. Plus we've gone through muttville before but never again after this

This is the most wonderful place to adopt a dog from. They have excellent fosters and volunteers who work hard to match you with the right dog, which makes a good fit and greatly increases the chances of success for everyone. They've rescued over 11k dogs over 15 years and helped us find our adorable senior Bassett hound, who has the energy of a pup and the happiest dog I've ever seen. Muttville's figured out what every other rescue hasn't and place tons of dogs a month as a result.

They only let you schedule an appointment with one dog at a time, or you can also attend the Saturday outdoor adoption event; it's a ton of fun to play with all the varying pups. Many of the dogs are fostered so they don't get kennel stress and they will help you get a dog which fits your home and lifestyle. The first dog we met was not a good fit at all, but our new Bassett hound alum is the best addition we could ever ask for. It's been 8 days and he's already settled in wonderfully, had zero accidents in the house and is always wagging his tail.

They're moving to a bigger location next year, but share space in the SPCA building, which at one time housed several government agencies. They let you walk the dog and get a feel for things away from all the other dogs and people and ensure the pup is up-to-date with everything. They email you a .PDF with their medical record and they also gave me a unique leash, collar, harness, and some other items for the dog. I remembered an old TV advert from when I first moved here in the late 2000's...they were started by a woman in her living room. Every one of these dogs are neat enough to want to take home and they also have many new dogs and even hospice opportunities, so checking their website often is the best advice. Seniors (people) have a special program and on occasion they have an Adoptathon on the calendar and the dogs free. Our new senior dog has made our home so joyous and bright...I've also never seen such a happy dog. These dogs all know everything already and were generally well cared for. One dog which was adopted along with ours came all the way from Mexico and was missing most of his hair, so the effort they put into these dogs is wonderful.

Most of these dogs would never have been surrendered if their person didn't get very ill, die, or suddenly have terrible life changes. They're all grateful to become alums and are in the very best parts of their life for giving us joy. They don't need much correction or training and just want love. I couldn't imagine ever having another dog and after 8 days, he seems like he's been with us for years. Muttville is the most unique dog rescue I've seen. If I lived closer I'd volunteer or foster myself. I'd love to come play with all the dogs each weekend, it's good for the soul and there's some people who do this.

In the end, I was looking at about 6 dogs. The first was a disaster, the second we adopted instantly and 2 others were adopted by others earlier in the week. They have more info than in the listings and one dog was not appropriate for our house at all that we wouldn't otherwise had known, so they help you find a dog that you both like and is a good fit. Muttville dogs are alums for life once adopted and are never to go anywhere else. The people are doing great work and a wonderful service that has helped so many. An added bonus, I found in the microchip records what the dogs original name was, which helped him feel comfortable and at home. The joy of discovering all the things your new dog knows already that you didn't know is quite fun.

Recently adopted the sweetest dog. The entire group of volunteers was very kind. They were thorough in their screening process and very kind to send home an allotment of food and poop bags, including a harness and leash! We love our newly adopted senior!

      Updated review

With great sadness, my uncle passed away shortly after adopting. My daughter was terribly allergic to the dog so we couldn't keep him. Muttville took him back with no problems so he could be rehomed.

Love Dogs??? ‍This is a fantastic place to volunteer... our SF group comes here to Spread the LOVE and spend some time with the Senior dogs! They need some kind attention- don't we all? -
If you can spend some time as a volunteer, you'll be well rewarded with dog smiles and cuddles. Some of the dogs (over 7 years old) still think they are puppies... don't tell them , LOL!

I have adopted two senior mutts though Muttville. Both times, a great experience. They take care to address health issues before you get your pup, and provide good information about key details so you know what to expect.

I have been a dog owner/lover ever since I was a little boy.

Muttville is one of those places where you can truly feel the love for senior dogs.

I highly recommend you donate whatever you can to this great cause that finds new homes for older dogs.

Great place to give your extra or not used dog items. They work 100% off donations. We recently donated all of our two dogs (Rocky and Maddox) toys, beds, dog meds, and other senior dog related items after we laid both boys to rest on 2/4/24. Glad this stuff can help other senior dogs like it did with our Rocky and Maddox
