Wanted to try this place because of the great reviews. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as expected. We ordered the curry beef and the Unagi set. My big issue was the rice. It was hard and not the typical Japanese rice. The curry is different than any other Japanese curry I've ever tasted. The beef was just so so. Wife said unagi was tender and pretty good but didn't like the rice. Good service but the food is around a 3 star to me.

Continuing on my best of Vancouver foodie trip, decided to try out a small japanese place south of Richmond on Saturday @ 5:44. Really wanted to try their Uni zaru soba, but was totally dissapointed when the lady said they ran out of uni. How do you run out of a dish so early on a Saturday? So I got the unagi meal, chicken teriyaki, and pork chashu meal instead, also got sides of vege croquette and shrimp tempura, it was ok. Nothing special, everything was ok, but nothing stood out as delicious to go again for.

Got the chicken teriyaki and the pork bento. We thought the pork bento was a deep fried cutlet but it's just a pork belly stew, which was ok. The chicken teriyaki was nice and crispy.
The side dishes was a nice addition, but felt the rice bowl portions could be a bit more. The place is super small, but had good business.
My friend got the Beef bento, that looked really Good as it had an egg, onion and beef.
Overall would go again, price was decent for a bento as well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 10, 2021
Pork Course Meal $11.95
Beef Course Meal $12.95
Pudding $3.49
The Pork was super delicious, it just melts in your mouth with a full of flavours! Must try
The beef was also really good but not a unique compared to the pork. They also have very delicious side dishes and it comes with miso soup too!
Their pudding is made with real vanilla bean which makes it so much more delicious as you can taste the rich vanilla compared to extract.
This place has amazing food and we will definitely be back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 13, 2022
Wouldn't necessarily call this place Japanese. The sets are essentially teriyaki bowls with your choice of protein. Sides were all okay but like I said, wouldn't call it Japanese. I got the beef set and it came with stewed celery, picked daikon and carrots, miso soup, agedashi tofu, and seaweed salad. The beef wasn't a very big portion but it did come with a soft egg..lacked flavor/seasoning. My partner got the tofu bowl and instead of agedashi tofu got stewed daikon. Service was friendly and prompt!

We wanted to try Nobi x2 for the longest time and finally did it. Definitely has a cafeteria feel to it where you order at the counter first and then grab your table. Unagi set ($15.95) is exactly what you'd expect with decently cut pieces on top of a bed of soft fluffy rice. Side dishes like cabbage salad, agedashi tofu and pumpkin slices are nothing too special but the miso soup is overly sodium rich for our liking. My partner ordered the pork set ($12.95) and he was disappointed to find it's literally the same as Taiwanese braised pork on rice instead of like Japanese ginger pork style. Also all staff speak Cantonese here. Just fyi.

I finally came around for lunch with a few friends. And this turned out to be a great meal for a rainy day.
I opted for the beef course meal $14.95 which was beef teriyaki with an egg on rice and miso soup, a squash and cabbage as sides. I traded my squash for my friends radish. Meal was filling and homey. I wish the food was a bit hotter so my egg could've cooked more when mixed in.
I will return to try the other meals soon.
Bottomline: Reasonably priced and tasty lunch sets.
Tip: make reservations since the restaurant is small and fills up quickly.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Ernest J.Vancouver, Canada324801561May 1, 2022
Geez I really like this place! My gf and I were out at the outlet mall (by YVR) around 630 pm.... Too late to drive home, cook dinner and eat so we decided to stay in Richmond for dinner. We tried phoning a couple of popular Richmond restaurants for a reservation but it was either they don't don't take reservations or they're busy but we can add you to the waiting list! Anyways, I was browsing around on Yelp and found Nobi Nobi.... my gf said she saw it on Facebook and she wanted to try it. I called for a reservation but the girl working there said it wasn't busy so just drop on by! The restaurant is on the other side of Richmond but we made the trip out to Steveston Highway.
I wouldn't say this place is ritzy but it's functional. The proper word would be "utilitarian".... We went up front and looked over the menu. They don't have too many offerings, and I choose the teriyaki foie gras/chicken rice. My gf ordered the unagi rice bowl. I'm a big foie gras fan and I would say the restaurant is fair with the amount of foie gras offered. I would say 30% was foie gras and 70% chicken.... pretty fair given that foie gras is pretty expensive. Overall, Nobi Nobi dishes out an entire tray of food! By the end of the meal I left pretty stuffed and satisfied! I don't know when I would be out this way again but if I'm out here I would have no compunctions to coming to Nobi Nobi again! We got two stamps on our frequent visitor card.... 8 more meals and we get a meal for free!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sally H.Vancouver, Canada26148430Feb 15, 2022
Looking for a quick, simple, hearty, warm and feel-good kind of meal? Head over to Nobi Nobi to get all of those.
First time trying Nobi Nobi and we liked it a lot! We didn't have a lot of time for lunch in between work and this place was quick! Each meal set came with a little bit of everything: miso soup, agedashi tofu, daikon, pickled veggies, salad and your choice of rice bowl.
I liked that everything tasted fresh, light, healthy and not greasy. It felt relatively healthy and when I finished eating, I didn't feel bloated which is a HUGE win for me Everything was simple yet extremely delicious and well-done.
The place inside is small and cute! Service was quick, friendly and extremely warm. I can imagine that it can get quite busy here as there are only a few tables so I would be aware of that when you're trying to come at peak hours! But it wasn't busy for us so we were lucky!
I would definitely come here again for lunch! Loved the vibes, food and concept of this place! Need to try their other sets on the menu.
BEEF COURSE MEAL
The beef teriyaki bowl was extremely flavourful and delicious. Loved the egg on top and the fact that everything blended well together. Worth every penny and super affordable ($13.95)!
FOIE GRAS RICE BOWL
The foie gras in this was so crispy and juicy! It had so much flavour when mixed in with the chicken teriyaki. A bit more expensive ($19.95) but that's because of the foie gras. Although it was extremely delicious and definitely do think it's worth the price.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
