Add this one to the list of random fun things to do in NYC on a Friday night.. every Friday, SPiN hosts a ping pong tournament that highlights what they advertise as some of the best players in the game. Whether that's true or not, they're a heck of a lot better than me... and with names like Dora the Scorer and Shaka Khan, a lot more ferocious, too. So my friends and I grab a beer or a glass or wine or one of their creative cocktails, stake out a seat on their bleachers, and get ready for a good time. Admission is very FREE for spectators.. and drinks aren't too expensive. I didn't really try anything too crazy, but my glass of wine and beers were like $7 each. We also ordered some buffalo and BBQ wings, which were yummy in their own right. I hear the other food is just as good.

Even though the tournament is advertised as starting at 9pm, I think they only really get going at like 9:30-40pm. Nevertheless, you might want to get there on the early side to grab a good seat... the turnout is great. The crowd is diverse -- and sometimes includes celebrities, I'm told... although I happened to be there on a celebrity-less night. It's a really fun atmosphere, and one of the more interesting nights I've had in NYC... almost inspires me to take some ping pong lessons... almost. Oh, one more thing -- the music is freakin' awesome! They have a DJ spinning during the whole night... I almost got up and just started dancing like every 5 minutes. But I had to remind myself that this was a ping pong tournament and not a club. Although I wish it was...

This place is every ping-pong lover's dream. I was here this past weekend for a charity fundraiser event, and had a pretty good time.

The vibe is super chill - great music, cool art, tons of staff walking around. Everyone was really friendly.

The drinks were spot on - I was pretty happy with my rosé and prosecco for the night. The food.... not so much.

The best dish of the night for me was the tuna tartare. The empanadas and risotto balls were OK. The sliders were cold, and the pigs in a blanket and grilled cheese were way too salty.

I think this place would be a good spot to hang out if I knew someone who was a member or came to a pre-planned event, but it seems way too expensive for a casual happy hour place. Overall, cool to check out but I wouldn't go out of my way to be here. 3.5 stars.

10 minute wait for a ping pong table at 9:20pm on a Saturday. Not bad!

Pros- They provided free bottled water for the group. There were also plenty of tables and seating around. DJ in front of the bar, and workers coming around picking up balls every 10 or so minutes. Decor was nice and modern, spacious. Fries were good!

Cons - Music was slightly too loud to talk. Drinks were not tasty, but I guess if you order straight shots then it doesn't matter :)

I have been to Spin at least three times in the past, however only playing for an extended period of time at least once. There was a special table invented Called The Incrusion and the creator was there to let people interact with this new addition to the ping pong table. It was basically a plexiglass addition to the side like a basketball backboard that lets the ball hit off different angles and sometimes comes at you in all different new ways. A whole new way to play ping pong. I tried this out, I am not that good at a regular table so it was just useless fun to me. My friend here was kind of an expert I enjoyed watching her play numerous opponents on this special table and the normal as well. Beers were great here. I just stayed with Heineken, did not really check what was offered on tap.

The Friday night vibes were great. Got to play table tennis and listen to a DJ the whole time. Also, there was a feature match in the main table, some real professional players with Olympic training putting on a demonstration. The ability you see there makes you want to pick up your racket and practice some more. Incrusion table was there last March, as the one table feature. Hope to come back again one day soon and hopefully see some of the best of the best play.

Came to an after-party here, pre-pandemic, and felt like my inner 8yo spirit corgi again. So many games! So much badminton! I never knew I needed a glass of Cab Sav in one hand and a giant Connect Four circle in the other until I held both that night. My life is complete. Thank you, Spin, for the jumbo board games and super affordable booze. This is how people adult, right?

One of the coolest places I've ever been to! My friend and I love playing ping pong so we visited on a weekday afternoon. We were able to walk right in and get a table to play on for a half hour. You can reserve a table for either a half hour for 18 dollars or an hour for around 30 dollars. Each table gets a server so you can order drinks and even food while you play. They had a descent beer list and lots of cocktails. Everything is decorated really well, plus that tub of ping pong balls is so unique. There's also a bar or tables you can sit at if you don't want to play ping pong.

Don't worry about picking up ping pong balls as you go because someone goes around and does that as you play! I definitely can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area. I highly recommend the visit.

Worst EXPERIENCE in my life at a CLUB:

After a night of partying, I walked over to the bag/coat check area to retrieve my belongings.
I showed my tag number to the idiots behind the counter and they gave me my coat WITHOUT my Burberry bag and ACCUSED ME of taking my bag!
      He FLAT OUT said:
"I saw you take your bag with you back onto the dance floor...we don't have a bag back here ."

I was adamant that they had it and still they ignored my request for 15 minutes to do a better search.

Then, someone came over to me and said they would review security footage to try and prove that I took my bag ?!?!

35-40 minutes go by and I'm now I'm thinking to myself, either I'm going crazy , or they are scheming behind the scenes to steal my bag.

FINALLY, the manager does a more thorough search in the back and they did find it buried behind other bags.

The fact that they misplaced it was bad enough, and yes that was an honest mistake on their part.
My issue was the lack of respect and empathy for guests when dealing with lost items.
To accuse and make up stories to deflect responsibility instead of listening to your patrons is extremely unprofessional!

I came for a Halloween party and had an amazing time. Because it was done up for an event, I can't really speak to the venue as it's used for ping pong, but the space is really, really big. Multiple bars; attentive, friendly bartenders and staff all the way to closing.

I wish I could remember more about my experience, but I wrote myself this note: "Kelly at Spin was eggcellent". I think she worked there, I think her costume had something to do with eggs, I think I was amused by her puns and said I would Yelp her. Here's to you Kelly!

Had a great time here! Definitely seems like a work function kind of place. I've never really associated ping pong with bar, so wasn't sure what to expect here. I was pleasantly surprised though: the place was actually huge, with lots of ping pong tables. It was very clean and well organized. Each table had its own basket of ping pong balls and the staff constantly kept the baskets filled/the floors clear with this nifty sweeper thing.

In terms of food and drink, we had some of their appetizers and a wide selection from the bar. I really liked their buffalo chicken bits and mini sliders as well as the shrimp with polenta. Their drinks were definitely on the strong side, made with good quality alcohol. I liked that they used Hendrick's in my gin and tonic.

In terms of music, they actually played hip, dance-y songs, which I enjoyed. Definitely more of a classy, chill vibe though. Didn't really imagine turning up to ping pong but with the music and drinks that's basically what happened and I liked it.

Not sure how much I would have liked paying for all of this by myself, but I definitely enjoyed coming here as part of a big party! Probably wouldn't come back with college friends though because seems like it's geared towards slightly older professionals/work functions.
