Add this one to the list of random fun things to do in NYC on a Friday night.. every Friday, SPiN hosts a ping pong tournament that highlights what they advertise as some of the best players in the game. Whether that's true or not, they're a heck of a lot better than me... and with names like Dora the Scorer and Shaka Khan, a lot more ferocious, too. So my friends and I grab a beer or a glass or wine or one of their creative cocktails, stake out a seat on their bleachers, and get ready for a good time. Admission is very FREE for spectators.. and drinks aren't too expensive. I didn't really try anything too crazy, but my glass of wine and beers were like $7 each. We also ordered some buffalo and BBQ wings, which were yummy in their own right. I hear the other food is just as good.

Even though the tournament is advertised as starting at 9pm, I think they only really get going at like 9:30-40pm. Nevertheless, you might want to get there on the early side to grab a good seat... the turnout is great. The crowd is diverse -- and sometimes includes celebrities, I'm told... although I happened to be there on a celebrity-less night. It's a really fun atmosphere, and one of the more interesting nights I've had in NYC... almost inspires me to take some ping pong lessons... almost. Oh, one more thing -- the music is freakin' awesome! They have a DJ spinning during the whole night... I almost got up and just started dancing like every 5 minutes. But I had to remind myself that this was a ping pong tournament and not a club. Although I wish it was...

My husband and I went to Spin in San Francisco during our honeymoon a few years ago and had an amazing time. This year, I decided to host his birthday party at Spin in NYC and boy, am I glad I did. First of all, Jenny M., the party coordinator, is an angel! She was so sweet and communicative! The original weekend we had planned for the party, it was snowing in the NJ county where my friends were coming from. Despite the fact that it was definitely not going to be bad in NYC, Jenny let us switch the weekend and was so understanding.

The day of the party, the staff was super kind and attentive. They treated everybody in my party with kindness and respect. We chose to extend the party for another hour because everyone was having so much fun. The drinks were great, the music was great, and the ambiance is so cool. I can't recommend Spin enough and I would host another party here in a heartbeat!!

Loungy ping pong. If you love ping pong, drinks, and a lounge vibe, this place is for you! I've been to ping pong clubs and Spin is def on the higher end. I came here for a birthday event and everything was very classy. Wine/beer and a few apps were included in our two hour package. I also looove that there are ball boys that scoop up the balls and refill your buckets so you never have to go chasing after the balls like most other places! My one tip is if you're a pro ponger, the space for each table is very tight and not enough space to get any power shots in or get a pro game going. They also make you check your coat in at the door which I'm sure is for our convenience, but I have trust issues. Fun place with good drinks. Can't go wrong!

This is a really interesting place! I was invited to a networking event and was very pleasantly surprised by SPiN. There are ping pong tales all around with an open bar.

The walls are adored with really interesting art work. The hors d'oeuvres were very tasty but not to much variety - this is probably more the fault of the event organizer than the place.

The bar was really nice and I had a lovely Malbec. Overall this was a really nice experience.

For a fun night (or day) of ping pong, SPiN can't be beat. After checking in at the front desk, you and your party are taken to a ping pong table, and soon after that, a server will swing by to take your drink and food orders. You can pay for half hour and/or hour-long intervals, and while pricey, SPiN is VERY well set up for ping pong. The space is clean and spacious, and each table has two *buckets* filled with ping pong balls, so need to fetch fly balls. The drinks are also pricey - $8 for Harpoon IPA, ouch - but that's the cost of admission as they say, and their selection of drinks and dishes is vast. The service is always friendly, and dance and pop music makes it easy to get into the game. It's a good time.

So all in all, while SPiN isn't cheap, you get what you pay for - a fun, hip, well-run ping pong bar. I'll definitely be coming back soon.

Stop #3 for the night. Black Light Overpriced Ping Pong with fairly cheap drinks. They give you a bucket of balls so you just hit them everywhere at everyone at anytime. It was enjoyable and their truffle fries were delicious or I was drunk.

Yelp Drinks Week has taken my libation travels nearest to a bar participating--SPiN. The sponsored drinks were:
$7.00 Desert Mojito - Starr African Rum, cactus flower puree, lime juice
The puree did not mix well with the African Starr Rum alcohol, ergo, a bad combination resulting in a bad aftermath taste.

$7.00 Pong on the Beach -- Starr African Rum, Guanabana puree, St. Germain, pineapple + lemon juice. This drink is very GOOD and a good mix!! With a party of two imbibing this drink in the very dark atmospheric conditions and the squishing sounds of table tennis balls flying array on the court and off the court and extremely loud blaring noise so-called music from a DJ. Walking from the entrance to the bar in the dark was a challenge without getting hit by a ball and very minimal visibility in the dark. I guess U.S.A. want a piece of the pie in stepping up their presence in the sport as China has always dominate this sport (both men and women). My party of two did not play as we neither had the time nor finances as my visit was specifically for Yelp Drinks Week. Nevertheless, Yelp's "Pong on the Beach" was very good and our bar tender was attentive and courteous.

SPiN is a high-end table tennis night club with a quality libation bar, a DJ, a coat check all housed in a very dark environment. Hooks are available under the bar for purses and bags. It situates in the lower level and glass windows with an open view of MTA's Subway system of the 4, 6, N, R trains.

I brought my father here for his birthday on a Wednesday afternoon. It was pretty full considering it was a weekday afternoon but it wasn't overly crowded. Shrimp bao and fries were both very yummy. You don't have to chase your ping pong balls as they have a sweeper come by with this lovely contraption that very easily collects balls and refills your basket as you play. Everyone, including staff were happy and very nice. Very cool athletically. I love sit and so did Papi. My only critique is the costs to play and the cost of food. It could be a little cheaper but it's NYC. Still a very cool spot.

First time at SPIN and it did not disappoint! Wait time was about 40 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. My friends and I waited at the bar and had some cocktails for the wait. They also offered a selection of food as well. When our table was ready, we walked into a big room with ping pong tables, photo booths, and lounge areas everywhere. WARNING: Be cautious when walking in, fun in every corner will make your head SPIN!

This place is badly organized. I called to see if I could do a walk in for a table tonight since I couldn't get a reservation online. The person that answered -Jenny told me that they were closed for a private event. That's fine but can they update the website? I checked multiple times and on this date Feb 20th, they listed Feb 5 and Feb 7 with notes. No apologies from Jenny whatsoever when I told her that the site needs to be updated. Before I hung up I told her you guys should really update the website isn't that what it's for?
She rudely ignored me and just bye.
It's probably her job to update and she failed. What a badly run company.
Happy to bring my business elsewhere.
