We were there in February and bought at the door without any problem. After you buy everyone is made to wait at the bar area so it didnt seem to matter for seating if you arrived early or not. Also, check groupon and look for online codes. We got a… more

The thing that amazed me the most was that my partner had tickets from 5 years ago and we were still able to use it! The tickets have just been hanging over his head this whole time, and while he had intentions of using them, he just never did. So I rang them up to reserve seats for a Friday night, and the tickets still worked! They never expire!

It is a rather small place. There's a bar at the very front and then a separate room at the back for the comedy shows. The comedy room is also a small-ish place, but there was more than enough room for the Friday evening group of audiences. They do have an $18 drink minimum, but it's not hard getting there considering the cocktail prices ($15). A not-so-cool thing is the bathroom situation. I don't remember the bathroom door signs being (accurately) labeled and the bathrooms aren't at the same area. There are 2 unisex bathrooms (towards the front of this really long and creepy stairs/hallway thing), another bathroom behind a block of concrete and an employees' room, and then another room (next to a small, dark, and sketchy room) with 2 urinals. One of the bathrooms were out of service and because the one behind the block of concrete isn't noticeable, there was a massive line forming for the ONE bathroom available.

There was a host and 5 comedians for the show we were at and only half of them were decent. The other half joked about ONE topic for way too long (even though the joke died out minutes ago). I can't say how the other comedians are, but the ones for our show were only alright.

You really just have to take a chance and decide whether or not you think the show will be worth it. The site doesn't provide much information about the comedians, so everything's really based on luck.

Went to a great podcast taping with Mike Love of the Beach Boys. Was offered a free ticket and had an awesome time. They even had a free buffet prior to the show. Staff was very nice as well and tables were very close to the stage so good sight lines. Mike Love was very interesting and personable and told great stories about the Beach Boys.

Anyone complaining about drink prices shouldn't be going out in NYC. Its expensive because rents are high as well as taxes, insurance etc. Overall had a great experience and appreciated the complimentary tickets.

Literally just left this place feeling like we just got scammed. We came to see andrew shultz and without any warning or notice the show was filled with some comedian making fun of bad yelp reviews - so this is for you, sir. Andrew never showed up, my poor excuse for a drink was 18 dollars, 10 people showed up and our bill was ridiculous even for new york standards.

I dont want to say dont go here because thats unfair to the comics that work this place - but I have to say I am just so very disappointed in all the money we spent to come here and just feel like it was a scam. The host was amazing and so were most of the comics that actually cared... but it just left s terrible impression on us and we will never ever be back.

Here's why I won't be going to Stand Up NY again:

      1) 2 Drinks minimum. 2 Drinks not 2 items, If you ordered food, it won't count and that Sucks! Maybe because they know their show is not that good, and few drinks is a must for a good time. I totally understand that it is the norm for most comedy clubs, but what I don't get why it has to be a beverage, and not food?!

      2) $15-20 cover charge. and 2 drinks minimum, per guest.

      3) Expensive experience and cheap show.

      4) Ordered food, don't expect to get a knife. Don't ask!
Reminder: it is not included in the minimum, probably because they know people won't enjoy the food as well.

      5) Tables and illuminated menus were dirty, sticky, and very filthy.

      6) Coffee? what is coffee? There is no coffee at standup NY.

      7) Half empty on Friday night, REALLY?!! ( One table was the introducer's family )

      8) Not FUNNY.

      9) Not FUNNY.

      10) Not FUNNY.

      etc

      One and Half Yelps.

i love the set up of the shows here. i feel no matter where you sit you can hear and see the comics perfectly. however, most comedy clubs will do a 2 item min. great, i can deal with that. i do that all the time, i can grab a soda and some fries if im not drinking that night. however, i dont like how stand up NY has a $18 min. Thats a bit annoying especially if youre not drinking. the waitress said i can order $18 of unlimited soda....oh yeah..wonderfull.... the drinks here are steep in price and very watered down. they do have food, the prices for that seem a bit steep too. one plus is, if you check in on yelp, youll get a free shot. which basically tasted like the vodka cranberry i ordered. hmm interesting. however, there are shows everynight with great selections of comics. keep an eye out for the shows because overall, its a good spot.

Cozy and intimate. Good price on the tickets but be prepared for overpriced drinks and two drink minimum.

Chris Rock came in unannounced and he wasn't originally on the card. Maybe he was trying out new material because he wasn't as funny as he is on HBO. Still, a pleasure to see him in person.

Service was pretty bad and that's just wrong when the service charge is an included 18%. We had to flag our server down a couple of times and one of them to remind him that we had ordered a drink.

Kudos to the manager who kicked out some girl who was clearly on some drug. It was also funny to see a NY socialite/GILF with the menu of Botox in her face with her strong-jawed boyfriend perhaps 20 years her junior.

There were seven other comics and some of them were rather funny.

I'd come back again just to enjoy a night of laughs.

I bought tickets on an off day near the corner for $10. Fun place to go. $18 drink minimum. Drinks were not made well but were strong. I would not get the cocktails but rather just get straight liquor, beer, or wine. Acts change everynight so no use in commenting on the talent. I liked who I saw. Seating is cramped if you are near the stage so come early and try to sit in the back, it's the best view.

Disgusting comics and staff. I am a local person here trying a new comedy spot and got verbally assaulted at the bar. One of the comics made misogynistic and homophobic comments to myself and my partner and mentioned "using us in his skit". I've never felt more uncomfortable. We immediately left and the hostess inquired about our situation and upon explaining to her, stormed back into the establishment. The comics here are viscerally offensive and I wish I had never stepped foot into the establish with the simpleton, arrogant comics and dismissive staff. The only saving grace was the management, a gentleman who was understanding when we discussed our situation. I've never been more disappointed in the UWS. The comic here was misogynistic, made homophobic comments, and quite simply, is from Miami after preaching neighborhood community. You are much better visiting Comic Strip Live on the UES where they will not verbally attack your personal identity even before you enter the show.
