I was in the area for a training class and checked this place out and damn it was good.
I got the Super Burrito Al Pastor and it was friggin delicious. The meat was well marinated and perfectly cooked. All the stuff in the burrito was perfect too. Burrito looks small in the pic, but instead of a fatty, it's like a 10 incher.
The burrito came with blue corn chips and choice of salsa. I picked the salsa verde and pick de gallo. Both seemed fresh made and were perfect. Chips were fresh and warm.
Due to this Covid stuff there's no dining in, but the people were quick and nice to deal with. I ate in the car and grabbed a few extra napkins because I'm a slob. LOL
I don't live around here but I'll come back next time I'm in Sac.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 4, 2021
I came to Tacoa Tacos y Tequila with some friends for lunch. Located in an inconspicuous shopping plaza off of 65th Expressway and Folsom boulevard, this is a classic example of don't judge a book by its cover. I didn't think much of it from the outside but boy was I wrong!
These are some of the best street tacos you'll find in Sacramento, outside of your small, hole-in-the-wall location in South Sacramento or local Mexican market.
With that being said, the meats are so tender and flavorful and the tortillas fresh. But what really sealed the deal for me was their spicy mango margarita. I'm drooling just thinking about it.
I'm glad to have another option for great street tacos so close nearby.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jason P.Sacramento, CA3124Apr 12, 2023Updated review
I went to Tocoa for the first time in 3 years for lunch today. I was very impressed with the food. I got the carne asada super burrito and it was delicious. It was big and filled with good spices. The salsaa were really good too. They did not give you too many chips and I didn't ask for more because I was so full. I guess the only complaint I could have was the water cup was small

Make sure you a SUPER which adds cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. The purple tortilla chips are also very good and they have a salsa bar to go with it. Overall, I enjoyed Tacoa to make sure its part of my lunchtime monthly places to visit.

Surprisingly never heard of this taqueria. Had to drive by the area to see it for myself. The salsa bar is really good which makes the added toppings onto the tacos really good. The pickled onions, carrots and the different kinds of salsas really made this meal for me. The meat of the tacos were good just a little on the bare side but ultimately with the salsa bar this was a great meal. Will have to try more of the menu if I'm in the area for sure.

First time here. Drinks were really good, food not so much. I got tacos and the meat on one tasted spoiled. They were nice enough to give me another with a different kind of meat. A bit pricey for the quality of the food. The bartender was very nice, cashier not so much. Probably won't come here again.

Restaurant in good location and plenty of parking.
Restaurant is clean and nicely decorated.
Bathroom, hmmmm it's only one for the whole restaurant but not everyone needs to go at the same time I hope.
Customer service was superb.
Cook was clean and efficient.
This is definitely my one of to go to fix for Mexican food

Their food is SO delicious. I've ordered just about every single item each time I go. My favorite item is their burrito which you can make Into a super for snack additional $2.
Don't get me started on their agua frescas, they're so nice and cold. My favorite is the melon (cantaloupe). If you haven't tried this place yet, you must! And they have a nice bar side if you like to drink. One of my favorite places in Sac!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 16, 2019
We don't go out of our way for tacos often but we were in the area and I had just heard about Tacoa from a fellow local Sac foodie, so we stopped in for early dinner. I haven't been in this area for a long time, and they took over an old ice cream shop we used to visit in college. They also expanded to the suite next door which they turned into a bar area, which is more of a lounge feel than the main restaurant area.
At this restaurant you order at the counter and then they'll bring the food to you. They have a ton of different meat options, and you can choose a taco, burrito, or quesadilla, and even make it "super" if you want cheese, sour cream, and guac. I wish I ordered at least one item super so I could try it but I guess I'll just have to come back! I picked the carne asada and al pastor tacos, since those are my usual choices so I could compare it to other taco places. I almost ordered the nopales taco (cactus) because I seldom see that anywhere but I chickened out! Yet another reason to come back.
The tacos were really good! The meat was super flavorful. And they give a LOT of meat. Their tacos have double tortillas and I wish I had separated the tortillas to split up the meat...could've had 4 tacos instead of 2! Pro tip! If I had to choose between the two, I would pick the al pastor because the flavor on that meat was delicious. On top of that, they give you chips with your meal, and there's a full salsa bar, with all kinds of levels of heat, onions, radishes, and limes! Any place with a salsa bar is a winner in my book.
We also ordered a maiz suiza quesadilla with chicken. They're not your typical quesadillas - they're not completely enclosed so they're basically two tortillas on top of another, filled with meat and cheese. It was tasty, but a little messy to eat, might be more of a fork and knife dish. The carne asada fries came out with nice presentation, the meat was tender and they were very generous with the toppings. The fries seemed underdone though and barely golden, so it became a big mush under all the sauce. If they could make the fries a bit crispier, this dish would be perfect.
I've already started recommending Tacoa to my friends and I can't wait to come back!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
