Currently Back at Tonys Repair Shop due to a failed smog test. Called and let them know my car failed. They told me it was due to my check engine light showing a different code that they repaired. But my car initially smoked during the smog test got it retested and had failed again. Called and told them I had this problem and they said to come tomorrow and I gave them a time frame. Its 9am and now they are saying they arent able to look at my car until Noon. I find that an inconvenience because they could have let me know that before I drove to the spot at 9 am. Then I recieved some sort of analogy based on why I had to wait and it was like a dentist. It seemed like my car was not thoroughly diagnosed for a full smog check pass and they just looked at the code and assumed that was what was wrong with the car. I wouldnt be making this review right now if I recieved a bit more professionalism regarding the time frame and then to be told by the mechanic I brought in different paperwork last time and thats the reason for his miss diagnosis rather then telling me he is going to fix the issue and find out whats wrong was a very rude and not true because its the same exact paper work I brought in initially. I will be updating my review throughout this process but for now Tonys Repair Shop has been a let down.
Update: Same Day- Much better experience after getting my car re-diagnosed. Was told that my car needed an oil change and some additives because the old oil was improper and caused the car to smoke. I really appreciated the fact they got my car back to me before noon when initially I was told thats when they would look at it so cheers to them for working diligently. Car is now SMOG certified and have no complaints.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim S.San Bruno, CA02Jul 10, 2024
Had my car serviced at Tony's this morning. Another great experience! Made an appointment and they took me right in, and was going to complete the service while I went to breakfast. A few additional items were needed which they completed at the time they said they would and at the exact price They quoted. Everyone I dealt with was very pleasant, efficient, and professional.

Time to find another mechanic. We have brought our cars here for the past 10 years, when they have needed work. Thought they were honest... until we called and asked for the price of a cabin filter replacement. Donna took the year, make and model and called back later that day. Donna said $78. Brought the car in, didn't have us sign a work order, just started working on the car... 30 minutes later the guy walks in the waiting room and said it would be $230! TRIPLE the price they quoted. He said he didn't know it would be so much work to get to the air filter. No DUH.. otherwise I would have done it myself. But we did call and we did give specific info on the car. It's their job to do the research to see what it takes to get the job done. I told them NOPE and took it to the dealership which was $100 cheaper! We will not be returning.

Tony Auto Repair has now been so kind to save me from further embarrassment! I have gone to them twice with my car for having an issue with things most people would understand how to do. I am not good with cars at all. Today my low pressure tire light came on and I went to the local gas station to get some air in, somehow the air slipped out quicker than it came in. In desperation I went to Tonys as I live close by. They took my car in, put pressure in all of them, reset the sensor and didn't want a single payment. People might say "payment for air". Yes, the guys stopped working on cars with actual problems to help me and that is time out of their day. No matter if it's 1 min or 30 min. I appreciate you all and thank you again!

I will never take my car anywhere else. I had been here before and the staff and service was amazing.
Earlier this week I needed a quick oil change ( I live in SF) so I went to a huge chain, not Tony's. This huge chain always tells me I need a transmission fuel change, and 10 other things that are wrong with my car. I ignored that advice and am glad I did. The large company forgot to check my maintenance light when I left, so I assumed something was wrong still.
I sheepishly pulled up to Tony's to ask them if there was something else wrong with my car, bc the light was still on. They said no, the big chain just forgot to click off the light. I also mentioned the other things the large chain said would be a problem, and one of the super lovely and friendly staff looked at my transmission fluid and reassured me everything was okay. For FREE! I was in and out in 5-10 minutes and they were so kind. Everyone I work with brings their cars here and says the same.
Tony's is a honest and reliable company, bring your car here and tell everyone you know!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ansamsoo N.Santa Clara, CA011Jun 14, 2024
Car was towed to Tony's after it wouldn't start. Tony's did a great job in communication, both with reception over the phone before/ during the service and also in person with the mechanic after the service. They did a great job analyzing and fixing the issue, as well as checking for any other possible issues, for a reasonable price. Very good customer service.

Honest caring staff. I think their prices are fair. Not the cheapest, but fair. I am not a mechanic, so I can't tell the difference between quality of the repairs, so I just have to go with my instincts that Dave the owner has nothing but the best intentions to do you right.

Tony's service is the best! Whenever asked if they are available to fix a problem, they always say yes and deliver the service requested very well. We have always been in awe because the price is always reasonable and we appreciate it.

Tony's auto repair is wonderful. We have been going there for the past two years. A friend recommended them. They are Toyota certified which is important to us. Prices are reasonable. Work is usually completed on the same day. The office staff is great. They keep us informed on how the servicing is going and any changes to what we requested. All in all very satisfied customers.

I called Tony's and talked to Dave. Dave said he would be able to get the parts needed the next day. We brought the car in and two days later our car was ready. We also asked them to perform a 200,000-mile service on our car. The workmanship was excellent and the price was reasonable. I'm definitely going back to Tony's for all my future car needs

Been a customer at Tonys Auto repair for 25 years brought both of my cars in there for regular service and maintenance. My car would not start one day leaving the gym so I had it towed the mechanic I dealt with was Bernardo. I told him my car would not start and if he could please check the battery and routine check alternator to see what's going on, he called me back and told me that it was my oxygen sensors And I paid the $800. The very next day the same problem happened. My car wouldn't start. I had AAA come over and they told me after they tested my battery. I only had 5% left and that my cables were corroded so I had them replaced the battery and the cables in the car started right up and I called Bernardo to discuss it with him. I asked him if he checked my battery he wouldn't answer and seemed like he was having a bad day when I kept questioning him about why he didn't look at my battery or do basic check up before making his determination. His answer to me was a car drives off the lot and you get a flat tire. Is it his fault? This has nothing to do with my situation so I don't understand him at all, and he was very unprofessional and very non-apologetic.. he then told me not to bring my cars in for service. If Dave Saunders, the original owner was there and mechanic I would not be having this problem never seen anything like it..

Dealt with Dave Saunders who was an awesome mechanic that took care of both my cars since they had the San Bruno shop. Donna the receptionist was awesome. My car broke down and wouldn't start. I had the car towed to Tonys Auto repair in Burlingame. I mentioned to the mechanic that if you could check the battery in the outlets and everything and my car wouldn't start not even with the jumpstart the mechanics name was Bernardo called me back to tell me I needed oxygen sensors replaced so I paid the $800 thinking that was the problem and the very next day I had the exact same problem where my car wouldn't start, I had AAA come over and they tested my battery and said the battery was at 2% left and the cables were corroded. I was shocked to hear that since I brought the car in and Bernardo told me it was just the oxygen sensors. I was confused to why he didn't check the battery or the cables since it was clearly obvious they were corroded I want to getting a brand new battery and cables in the car work perfectly as I called Tonys Auto repair and spoke with Bernardo. He was extremely rude and upset that I was questioning him on why he didn't check the basics, since I was paying a lot of money. Bernardo's answer to me was if a car drives off the lot and the tire becomes flat. Is it his fault and I kept asking him if he checked the battery in the cables he wouldn't answer. He got so frustrated. He told me not to bring my cars back in Tonys Auto repair under Bernardo is going to go down the tube. He has no sensitivity training or no customer service skills he seemed that he had a bad day. I found another mechanic who agreed with me. Without Dave there the shop is no good.
