Overview:
Great service
Long wait times / no reservations
Freshly made food
Good quality meats / seafood
Decent prices
Traditional menu
Don't come here if you want fancy rolls. This place is very traditional with authentic foods. The chefs and servers are also Japanese.
Wait time was around 20 minutes and that's because it is a rainy night! However expect to wait up to an hour on a normal day.
I liked it, and food was definitely delicious! We tried the Salmon Taku Roll, Negitoro Roll, Scallop Nigiri, Rainbow Roll, Fish Tempura Dish, Cheese Agedashi (that just melts in your mouth) and Uni Nigiri.
Bill totaled to around $60 for two people. We could've been fine without one or two of the fried dishes as the rolls were very filling! So expect to spend $20 / 25 per person.
I'd totally zeroing in on the Nigiri :) Best quality seafood I've seen around town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eva L.Toronto, Canada724465May 9, 2019
One of the best sushi restaurants I've had in Canada. This tiny little place always has a line-up, and for good reason. Their fish is F-R-E-S-H!
I would recommend the albacore tuna, wild sockeye salmon, toro (of course, you must have toro), hamachi and the amberjack. We also tried the pressed sushi - this was only ok. If you love sashimi, you can't really go wrong with their selections here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carmen I.Vancouver, Canada768556Jul 13, 2016
Yes, the wait can be long. So... in my opinion, those reading the reviews who do not like waiting in line can simply avoid this place because you were warned. Not sure what most people expect when they visit a restaurant with near perfect ratings? It's either the line is too long or the restaurant was not busy so "it's not a good sign". Tough times for popular restaurants that have a good track record - people can be so impatient!
Now, for sushi lovers who appreciate fresh food without the fancy bells and whistles, this place stands out in Vancouver and is well worth lining up for. Most of the time as a party of two we don't wait longer than 30 minutes. Plus, if you have Pokemon Go that's no time at all!
I've listed photos of the dishes we ordered tonight. They are pretty self explanatory and hopefully capture how fresh their sushi really is. I highly recommend the black cod and any variety of their sashimi. So good we don't even notice the price tag (which by the way, is not that much more than mediocre restaurants out there). Why would you even question paying a little more for superior food?!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jul 1, 2017
Visiting tourist review....
We waited about 1/2 hr to get in to this nice little sushi spot. Other customers waiting raved about the place and told us its one of the best places in Vancouver.
We ordered miso soup, gyoza, and several rolls. Everything was fresh and so good. My bf really loved the roll w mango.
Staff was really quick and friendly. I highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brettley K.Vancouver, Canada1654Jan 30, 2020
Literally the best sushi I have ever had. Even the avacado rolls were amazing.
It is worth the wait!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Yosh A.Vancouver, Canada333192May 8, 2019
Japanese owned, great quality fish, great prices.... it's what I've been looking for since moving here from California.
I will be back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Traci C.Vancouver, Canada131117329Jun 3, 2018
The a la cart dishes are great. Comparable to some top izakayas with fresh ingredients. The fish for the sushi is really fresh but the rice consistency is not there. (Some are too hard, some too soft, some rice is too large in proportion to the fish)
We'd come back for drinks and their a la cart dishes.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - David A.Mission, Canada2293Apr 23, 2019
I was quite disappointed in this sushi experience. Poorly crafted rolls with barely any seafood inside. They should call all their rolls salad rolls. I had their aburi battera which was ok, Not great though. Then the 4 pc salmon sashimi which was so tiny and didn't seem very fresh. Dynamite roll and spicy tuna was similar and didn't stand out as being anything special full of lettuce and other salad stuff. The chopped scallop roll was small and poorly crafted, falling apart with barley any insides. I'd expect to get this quality of sushi from a gas station to be quite honest. I have no idea why there was a line up an hour long out the door. I will give two stars for the beer. It was pretty good and was the only highlight of the meal.
I ask my wife what her feeling was and her response was "it was different".Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lora M.Plano, TX209016Aug 5, 2019
Soooo goood. The price point here is amazing!! (Atleast compared to the states). We got a few rolls and nigiri and finished everything! The quality of the fish here is very good. I noticed that their salmon is a more orange color which generally means it is not farm raised. There is a wait as it is a tiny restaurant but it is well worth the experience.

Sashimi: yellowtail, wild sockeye salmon, and Toro was top notch. All other nigiri was also amazing. Friendly servers and very profession sushi chefs. As authentic as you can get outside of Japan. Nasu Dengaku is a most order. Mr Honda is the head chef seen below
