I needed hooks installed in my extremely tall ceilings to hang light pendant lights - Joe was quick, really nice, and charged a fair price. I expected he would just put the hooks in the ceiling, but he made sure the pendants were hung as well, and at the right height. He also changed a bulb we couldn't reach as well. Highly recommend.

Not responsive. After reading the positive Yelp reviews, I thought I would have no issues speaking to Joe about a few small jobs in the apartment I recently moved into. After taking the time to take and send photos of what I was looking to do per his request, I never heard back. Mind you these are small jobs - shower head and toilet seat replacement, hanging up a curtain rod and install two small floating shelves. I followed up with text and a call but no response. Unprofessional and inconsistent in his professional services.

I've used Joe several times now varying from installation of bathroom hardware to fixing a plumbing leak to washer dryer install. He is highly competent and gets the job done right. What truly sets him apart though is the care and thoughtfulness in his approach, and his attention to detail. He is also reliable, honest, and responsive. A rare find in this industry.

I contacted Yu Handyman Services because I needed a grab bar installed in a shower with a ceramic tile wall. Joe was prompt and responsive. He took great care to make sure that the grab bar was fastened securely and in the right place. Joe observed all COVID safety protocols. I would recommend him highly.

I was so excited to meet Yu, a Brownstoner recommended handy man, we spoke at the beginning of the week, he told me to call him to remind him of our meeting for this Friday, which I did...and when we finally speak again he tells me " he charges a fee for estimating the job"
He must be very busy to blow off an opportunity to meet with a prospective client, or couldn't come up with a better excuse as to why he couldn't come over.
What a waste of time with him!

Update: Since I posted the review, Mr Yu called me in remorse, apologized for the misunderstanding, acknowledging that he should have mentioned his "fee" up front, and made time to come over and give me an estimate ( free of charge )

The one star review was based on a misunderstanding which he has since corrected, If I give him the job, I will post a new review and hopefully raise his stars.

It takes a big man to own up to any misunderstandings and Mr Yu has certainly stepped up.

Handyman doesn't begin to describe Joe -- he does it all! Over the past few weeks, I have hired him to do everything from painting, to spackling, to rewiring of electrical, to installation of a baby gate. Every project he's done for me has been professional and thorough. And most importantly, he is reliable. Every time I have called or texted Joe, he responds within minutes and shows up exactly when he says he's going to show up. Joe is an honest & trustworthy professional. If you need someone who you can rely on to do home improvements in a high quality manner for a fair price, Joe is your guy!

Joe is seriously great. Came out on short notice, was super prompt, reliable, and knowledgeable. He did three repairs in my apt quickly and charged very fair prices for the work. I would hire again anytime!

Joe is an honest hard working excellent craftsman.
He came quickly, and was honest about what was needed to be done.
He spent a lot of time looking at the problem, then came up with a very good answer, and did excellent work repairing my staircase, and painting the stairs and hall , and reinforcing all the stairs. It never looked so good. I recommend him highly and plan to use him again.
Prices were very reasonable. He is an honest guy trying to make an honest living. He is skilled at what he does.

Joe installed a smoke alarm, reinstalled 3 botched curtain rods, and installed an AC unit in an aluminum window frame all in about half an hour. Quick and friendly.

If you require accurate precise and clean work done Joe is your man from soup to nuts!

First after a little accident we needed Sheetrock job... He came have an estimate and did the job all within few days ... His work was meticulous - he was communicative prompt and vet curteous and diligent in his work and clean up
We were so happy we had him do brick wallpaper on same wall... Again... SPOT ON! he gave us very affordable price and stayed on target with all his time and effort

I very seldomley refer or recommend but he is far more than worthy or both praise and referrals ... We will DEFINITELY use him as our GO TO GUY!!!!! He is sharp as a tack and great at his craft and will never even except a job that was not within his scope of work! Ten stars!!!!!!!
